Tunnels/Bridges - gotta love them

I couldn't hold my need to express my love for driving in tunnels and/or bridges.

Yesterday, I was driving as we all normally do until I reached a decent sized highway underpass. I normally don't do a spirited drive unless the urge comes from within, but man, whenever I'm in a tunnel or some sort of a hwy underpass, I just can't help but to downshift and let the twin-turbos roar!

I think I scared off this old lady in her minivan though

But it gave me one hell of a good feeling about my purchase! I don't care that it's not the E93 ///M (although 8400 RPMs under a bridge sound amazing...)
and what's even more amazing it the fact that I had the top down and heard the resonance under the hwy pass!

*sigh* of relief....Ok just had to let it out. Anyone else feel the same way?

Yeah..I always find myself cranking up the boost under the tunnels. Too bad they are really short over here.

A long time ago, driving late at night/early AM, I used to drive through the Ft. McHenry Tunnel at ridiculous speeds (when I was young and stupid). A real thrill. It reminded me of the old Atari Night Driver game (except with fluorescent lights).

Oh yes... Especially sub level when surrounded on all sides by concrete... Hell I've even detoured once or twice just for the sound track...

People look at you kinda funny romping on the throttle in the garages, but ah well...

I never expected an inline six to sound so good... Much different than the old Plymouth.

Oh yeah! I park in an underground garage at work. It sounds freaking amazing with the exhaust and BMS filter is icing on the cake when surrounded by concrete.

you all do the slow down on the reflective (store) glass to see your fine machinery?

and the double/triple look back after you are walking away from the car to admire it?

heh

I love to drive through the tunnel (S. Sepulveda Blvd.) under LAX's two south runways. It's fun!

The 335i has a pretty tame exhaust note. I don't goose it in tunnels.

My STi, however, has a full 3" exhaust from the turbo through to the back. It sounds like it's going to eat babies in tunnels.

I'm a big fan of tunnels, as well - something about speeding along, with the lights, the sound of your engine, it's just cool.

I'm sure folks have seen this -
- which I find more amusing than I should, considering it is about car crashes.

This engine sounds sooo good.

I don't know what sounds better actually: going WOT near redline, or going 3/4 throttle and hearing the smooth burble around 3-4k followed by an almost rolling upshift. Do you guys know what I mean? Just driving around part throttle can sound so intoxicating. This engine is so smooth.

However, I have to say, in an enclosed space going WOT sounds incredible.
