How many MPG can I expect
How many miles per gallon can I expect out of a E90 335i with say 70% highway at 70 - 80 MPH and 30% city stop and go. What is the size of the fuel tank?

i drive about that ratio, but maybe a little more highway, and I get around 22-23 by my calculation... on board computer is usually about 1mpg higher than that. Not bad for all that power on tap.

Honestly, with that ratio, I would answer subjectively and say good to very good mileage.
I think it's not that important what the actual number is, due to the fact that the ratio of highway to city can vary in one's routine. But over last Thanksgiving, when I had the cruise set at 65 mph, the computer read 32 mpg plus for the 1st 100 miles. Even at 75 mph, the 335 tends to get around 28. The N54 is pretty efficient for 300 HP imho..... My mpg computer tends to gravitate towards 19 since I'm about 85% city.... |

I have had my 335i e92 since Oct. 2006 and I now have 24,000 miles. My "life of the car" fuel average consumption is now at 22.5...60/40 highway to city ratio.
To be honest, this car can get amazing mileage if you do not have a heavy foot. So, after almost 2 years of ownership, the novelty of "flooring-it" often has worn off, thus my mileage has increased from 20 mpg to about 23-24 (430 miles per tank). On a trip to Chicago...I averaged almost 27 mpg round trip!

Id say about 19 if you are driving conservitively, and around 18 if you are flooring the pedal off of the off ramp to the highway btw, tank is around 15 gallons.

70/30 and I get a true read of around 23.5 mpg. This is with me being very light on the throttle. Based on ratings, I thought I would be closer to 26 mpg.

I got about 26.8 mpg after driving 270 miles from Las Vegas to Riverside, California at 80 mph (I set the cruise at 80). Not bad.

I should add, my 1000+ mile road trip from LA>SF>Yosemite>LA resulted in ~27mpg.
I think it would have been higher had I not had about 200lbs of luggage/crap and didn't flog my turbos on the highway 120 and 41 into and out of Yosemite. |
