Idle Spikes 600 to 800 RPMs

Noticed this for the first time today (3400 miles on car 10/07 build)
I normally idle at 600rpms but i noticed for the first time today after idling for about 4-5mins (fully warmed up, 240 temp) suddenly the rpms jump to 800 and after about 1 second came down to 700 and then after another second came back down to 600. This occured about 3 times in a row.
I then stepped on the accelerator for a brief second and the idles spikes went away.

I did a search and noticed quite a few ppl have an erratic idle but no of the threads offered a difinitive anwser to the issue.

Thanks for the info Artz
Not too worried if it is the intial signs of a problem, since its still under warranty.

Normal like stated. It's been doing it on my car since very early on. Still doing it now at about 22,000 miles. I notice it on longer stops.

Could just be the AC kicking in and thus putting more load on the engine (yes, even 300hp engines will feel the drain of AC ;-))

When the AC is on, it idles at about 700 RPM. This event the OP is describing is 100 RPM higher.
