E92 328 Coupe Paddle Shift Retrofit.. DONE!!
I bought a M-Tech E92 Steering wheel, Both Paddles some bolts and a whole lot of research, time and heartache... and now it's done!
They didn't offer it when I bought my car and I was pissed when it was available on the 328 Coupes. Anyway, it's done and it works. I will post some pictures when I get home in a couple hours. I need to test it some more. (Correction: These are just the regular paddles, not the M3 left- downshift only & right + Upshift paddles, sorry) Last edited by Brozi; 05-23-2008 at 12:31 PM.. Reason: wrong info about steering wheel, sorry. |

For some reason, I remember your username from somewhere.. weren't you in charge of your own forum a while back? E92something.com? If not, my mistake, haha.
lets see some pics soon. my E92 didnt come with the shifters either, maybe I should look into this |

Yes, I owned the forum E92club.com. Thanks for remembering me.
The paddle shift is awesome. No it does not just plug and play. All the parts have to be bought individually and wires have to be cut and spliced. I have been working on this for months. Just finished it. Here are some bad pictures of the E92 M3 Thick Wheel and paddles. PM me if you want more info. |

So when you mean M3 paddle shift retrofit, do you mean that pulling the left paddle will initiate a downshift, and pulling the right will command an upshift?

FWIW that is the mtech steering wheel. M3 steering wheel is tri color stitched. Nice job nonetheless on getting paddles to work on your car.
This is m3 steering wheel. Notice the non perforated leather as well as the stitching That mod has already been done and its actually quite simple. You just need to remove the air bag off the steering wheel and remove/switch the position of 2..3 pins and it will work just like you said (pull left paddle to downshift, pull right paddle to upshift). There is a DIY somewhere on here so just search for it. |

so let me get this straight.. did you add paddle shifters to a car that did not have paddle shifters to begin with?
or did you make adjustments to your existing paddle shifters to behave like shifters on an M? |

I added Paddle shift to a car that didn't have that option with no ECU BS Reflash. My car was ordered in 9/06 and delivered in 11/20/06 paddle shift on a 328i Coupe was not available!
I bought the "M" or "Mtech" or the really fat marshmallow BMW wheel wheel. I opted for the non M colored stitching. Bought both paddles. And some other parts and figured out the wiring and wired it up with a lot of trial and error. I am happy finally. Last edited by Brozi; 05-23-2008 at 04:14 AM.. Reason: spelling |

looks like a plain old 135i steering wheel dude.
i was going to add those paddles to my audi. they pretty much bolt to anything. heck maybe i should add them to my chair at work to adjust the height.

Nicely done!
I actually prefer the feel of that M-Sport steering wheel (from the 135i) over the M3 steering wheel. |

As Lawrence has pointed out, it's not a M3 paddle shifter retrofit. This is a M-tech steering wheel with the regular paddle shifter.
M3 steering wheel has the tri-color stitching + solid nappa leather all around whereas M-tech steering wheel has black stitching + 1/2 perforated nappa leather + 1/2 sold nappa leather as depicted in OP's pictures.
