Exhaust sound expectations: tuning or hardware mod?
Hi community.
One thing I would really like for my car is a more aggressive sound. Right now I'm running catless downpipes (N54 engine) and that's it exhaust system wise. What I would really like is between gear changes, I'd like that crunch sound from the exhaust. I don't know how else to explain it other than that lol. Hopefully you all understand what I'm trying to explain. If you get what I'm saying, how do I achieve this? Is this something that needs to be tuned into the ECU or is it hardware modifications to the exhaust system? New exhaust system? Thanks in advance. |

Crunch sound? Make a setup that releases exactly 1 acorn into each turbo wheel between shifts.
I'm thinking you mean more of a woosh sound which would be a blow off valve. I assume your car is a manual?

It's that kind of day around here.
OP, you lost us all at "crunch sound". Are you medically deaf? Maybe have someone with working ears describe it for you? LOL

That certainly is a better word to describe exhaust sounds.
OP?

If you have a manual just clutch-less shift. You'll be sure to get many crunch noises in there.

BMW PE has the best sound hands down! The only downside is the cost...you're looking at $1k+ if you add in tax and installation. I'm pretty satisfied with my Rogue Engineering IKON, deep burble sound, no droning, pretty quiet if you're under 3k rpm.
