car fob stopped working?

Hopefully this is a simple/doable fix because I'm not super enthused about the idea of buying a whole new replacement key.

Today I noticed that the car fob is not working. This car fob doesn't have comfort access but it does have a rechargeable battery (which I replaced -- still doesn't work). If I use the manual key to unlock the door there's no alarm and if I put the fob into the car and press the start button the car will start. I have another car fob with comfort access which can unlock/lock the car normally without needing to use the manual key.

Any thoughts?

Oh I wasn't talking about comfort access not working, I'm saying things like unlocking the car/locking the car remotely isn't working whereas they used to. Any ideas?

Sounds like the key is bad, are you certain the battery is good and installed correctly? You could try have it re-registered, but starting the car only uses passive communication, while the keyless entry to lock/unlock requires actively transmitting to the vehicle. If it's not the battery, then the key is bad.

Upside is you wouldn't need a key cut, just programming.

Hello!
My key fobs are also not working on my e91 even the manual key don't unlock/lock the car. Fortunately it starts the car. I think my central lock is ok, because when I get in and push the lock button on the dash, it locks/unlocks all the doors.
Anybody knows what could cause the problem? I really have no idea what to do now, I have to leave the car unlocked all the time :/

I posted this the other night on another thread about my non-CA FOB:

The remote didn't work (wouldn't unlock the door) but it would start the car. I opened it up (very carefully) and checked the battery. It had 3V on it so was good. I eventually found a guy that repairs BMW FOBs. He fixed it. Cost depends on whether or not you've already opened the key; ranges from $50 to 75. His website explains why. Not cheap but fair compared to a new FOB.

Thanks for the tip, but I dont think the problem is with my key. My other key is also stopped working.
Even when I try the physical key it is not locking/unlocking.
