N54 DP Fix Issues. Need help.

Can't get any answers on the subforum, posting here for some advice hopefully.

Just installed the VRSF DP fix on my 335i. Followed these instructions very carefully:

I have the dial at 5o'clock right now. Here is what MHD is showing:

Currently have stage 2+ flashed. Don't know how to diagnose this and quite frankly I'm a little nervous to even touch the dial as I don't want to fry anything.

Any help appreciated.

Did you have check engine light coming on after DP install? Are your O2 sensors installed? I don't understand the need for that "fix" if you are running MHD. MHD should automatically cheat the DME into not throwing a code that will cause the check engine light to come on. I am running MHD with downpipes, and using all the O2 sensors and I have had no check engine light come on.

It's not for the code. It's for Smog. I live in California. Need the cats to show as ready in order to renew my registration. No CEL before or after.

Trying to figure out where to go next to show cats as ready.

I'm coming up on my inspection and am adding the fix when I get it, so keep us updated.

I'll keep this updated as there is no where that shows the specifics of when it comes to turning the dial when you need to troubleshoot.

Firstly I have reached out to VRSF and will post their response back.

Research tells me that I could leave the current tune map on. For kicks, I tried flashing it back to stock, and that created waste gate rattle. Just got these turbos installed so I don't want to mess them up.

What I'm also trying to find out is if the INCOMPLETE status I'm seeing is there because it DOES recognize the cats but just the monitors aren't ready, or if it's because the DP fix isn't calibrated properly.

You're gonna have to play with the dial unfortunately to get it dialed in. I ended up getting full readiness at either 7 or 8 oclock position and lots patience. Go from 5 to 6 then 6 to 7 and so on. If none of those work go to 4pm and work the opposite.

These things are not plug and play, requires some fiddling around. Also make sure you load stock tune, not map 0 but the factory tune.

I'll definitely flash it back to stock then. I was under the impression MHD map 0 didn't suppress the CEL DP light. Hopefully the created waste gate rattle doesn't cause longevity issues on my turbos.

Also, what are you using to see when the monitors are ready? I only have MHD and Carly Pro. Anything in there that will let me know when it's ready? What do you use?

Doing my best to keep this updated.

Flashed completely back to stock. No check engine light from the catless dps, so I'm assuming that the DP fix is doing it's job. I still have the dial at 5 o'clock. MHD is still showing all of emissions related things as incomplete, so I'm not sure why I'm not getting a check engine light.

Does this mean the OBD monitors aren't ready, and the car needs to be driven or does this mean the DP fix isn't calibrated properly but it's still preventing the CEL from triggering.

I'm not sure if MHD is the best system to use for figuring out if the DP fix is working.

That's incorrect. Jeddo is right, Map 0 will not suppress the CEL. I've always flashed to map 0 and got readiness.

Mhd is enough for readiness, it will show when you read the dme for codes. You will have to also perform the readiness drive cycle - easy to find with google search. Just have some patience and dont give up. Assuming all is well with the car, you'll get the readiness. If you search my posts, I walked another member on how to get this done and it is a pita but well worth it.

Less than $100 - Vader 1/4" vac mod to BOV, cures boost flutter.

He has zero flutter now, 30min install, mostly routing and cutting vac lines to make it neat.
BMWFANATIC, he has Forge bov vent chargepipe kit, stock N54s, DCI, no downpipe yet.
JB4/MHD, stock inlets, ARM FMIC, e85.

Before Vader , had to drill 1/4" vac bung into manifold next to stock 1/8" plugged off. Most BOV fit 1/4", he zip tie to keep it from slipping, his forge has flange mount so it won't move ,most charge pipes no mount, he was also getting flutter backpressure when he ran forge dual diverters before Forge BOV kit less than $400, Forge is large like Tial and is quite compared to HKS and the other squeeze on bov that pop off & hit hood on first install on my YT vids they don't get good seal, i prefer the Tial and Forge clamp style.

I'm not liking the idea of catless odors in e93is. Just have to settle for high flow.

I have Dinan stage 2, no JB4 no MHD, would have to do this headache flash piggy and screw with dial and suck fumes in slow traffic with top down, high flow sounds like no headaches vs +$300 for Ebay catless w/ flash fix.

High flow cats cost 250% more

If you're in CA, you will not pass without that catalyst being 'complete'. Also, there is a very specific procedure that needs to be followed (ie. drive under 60mph for about 15 minutes) before catalyst becomes 'complete'.

Read my thread:

EDIT: Didn't notice that this thread was bumped by basically an ad.
