Arrrrgh! Left Rear Brake Light Malfunction!

Sigh....got the 'Left Rear Brake Light Malfunction!' alert today after a car wash.....no water or condensation is in the case...

I guess it's just a faulty bulb....gotta take it to dealer again....

this is very normal for my E90. I get a warning every 4-5 months for the past 2 yrs, everytime before I have a chance to visit the dealer, it went away within a week.

yes i've had this problem as well on both left and right break lights
each time took it in, dealer took out the socket and put it back in and it was fixed. Once they may have even replaced the panel back there

The coupes have a pretty well known issue with this. Theres a new bulb carrier for the taillights which secure the bulbs to the carrier better. Just bring it by the dealer and they should replace out the whole carrier with the new one.

Is there a specific part number or a TSB/SIB for that? Would be good to be able to print it out and show it to the dealer.

Thanks!

i've had 2 bulbs that somewhat burned out lately. went to the dealership and they replaced it for me w/in 45mins-1hr. i recently had another bulb issue, but screw the dealership this time, cuz they're just wasting my time to change just a bulb. i bought 2 bulbs from a local store for $5. i'm sure we have better things to do than just go to the dealership to change a light bulb.

if the bulb keeps going out, then it means something other than the bulb is at fault, correct?

i had one on the right side.. it was the bulb holder... they replaced it... it wasn't the module itself.. it was the holder for the module.. on mine though all the lights workewd fine when we checked but i still had the warning.. after replacing the bulb holder it went away.. that was my only problem to date.. well now i do have a squweeky brake but that's from a pebble or something.. that's getting taken car of on wednesday when i should have my vs8's and the performance steering wheel installed finally after it's been there for a week but they were slammed.
