1. No idea where he pulled the 1,850-kg figure from. BMW Germany's spec sheet clearly states 1,805 kg as the EG weight (i.e., with the 75-kilo ballast) for their German-spec vehicle.

2. Nowhere in the EU regs (here, here) nor BMW documents (here), that I've briefly read, does it say that the stated weight figures are "based on the most popular options from the previous model year." It says, on all German websites, that the figure is based on a base-spec car with no options, and that additional equipment may increase the weight.

EG weight, the one that Lieberman seems to have cited: "The mass of the driver and, if applicable, of the crew member is assessed at 75 kg (subdivided into 68 kg occupant mass and 7 kg luggage mass according to ISO Standard 2416 – 1992), the fuel tank is filled to 90 % and the other liquid containing systems (except those for used water) to 100 % of the capacity specified by the manufacturer."

So the German M3 Competition is 1,805 kg as per the above. 1,730 kg without the 75-kg ballast. M4 Competition is 1,725 kg. AutoBild measured their Track Pack car at 1,695 kg with full tank.

US-spec M3 Competitions as per the press release weigh 1,765 kg. I don't know how things are in the USA in terms of weight regulations.

I've heard that EU regs enforced manufacturers not to submit super-lightweight cars for certification, but I've also not read anything that says what the car should be like. AFAIK, it just must be in running order. Thus, they just publicly say they're cars with no options.

I could maybe find somebody from my old place (OEM) to explain the process to me.

FFS.
Both cars, comparably equipped, on the same scales on the same day - hope someone does that to clear it up. I feel like all that really matters in this context is the weight differential. And would be cool to throw an E92 on there cause a lot of people still believe those weigh 37-3800 lbs... heck even that Throttle House video gives the impression that E9X is as heavy or heavier than G8X

They are quite heavy. My DCT E92 weighed close to 3,700lb.

I've seen a lot of guys on the forum scale in anywhere from 3550-3650 (lower even with MT). I mean I'm probably around 3700 with a full tank in my DCT F82, so half tank would probably put me between 3630-3640. Just a guestimate, but seems it's in the ball park of a typical E92

3,550lb sounds right for a stripper 6MT E92. My DCT M4cs weighs less than that.

I seriously doubt your F82 is anywhere close to 3,700lb with full fuel.

Yeah, you've got it good ha! Seen yours scale in at 34XX if I remember correctly. My car is the complete opposite end of the spectrum and probably fairly representative of a typical F8X build that's out there (DCT, Exec Pack). Also seen that with some gutting this chassis can hit somewhere in the 33XXs without resorting to replacing body panels w/ carbon fiber

So for context this was the readout from the scales. I’m fairly sure I had 3/4s of a tank, so I’m just adding 30lbs for the remaining 4 gallons of gas which would have me at 3690. It’s also possible that it could have been more than 3/4 tank but I don’t remember exactly... I just know it was at least 3/4s

Not that low. It was 3,536 when I put on scales with 95%+ fuel, MPE, no floor mats and M-mobility kit removed and it has iron rotors. So I say ~3,550lb officially.

Oh yah, the drop is most necessary! Maybe BMW will release another MP HAS for G8X once KW develops their HAS system

Hmm... if you have driven one, I think you would know there is a lot more going on that makes up for 120ps deficit with Panamera GTS. Did I tell you near-Turbo level horsepower is safely achievable with a simple tune?

The Panamera Cross Turismo Turbo-S (not even the top E-hybrid), which is built on the same platform as the RS6 and uses the same engine tuned for +20hp, is ~80k USD more than the RS6 once optioned. The GTS, the next level down, has less of a price gap being "only" 40k USD more than the RS6 but offers significantly less performance than the RS6 (-118hp). And my wife does love her Audis

I saw my first G80 today. I don't know what everyone is complaining about. It seems OK.

Well the natural fish mouth certainly doesn't help but yeah the distortion is also why it looks like it has such extreme camber - the photo is wrapping around the center point and skewing everything as it moves towards the edges

Not interested in tuning a warrantied car. The Panny ST GTS still is 40k more expensive than the RS6 and less practical.

To add to RugbyBro 's point, look at the buildings, see how the walls are skewed off vertical? Quite significant distortion, I agree.... these pics are not how the car looks in real life, more like instagram click bait (esp in pics 1,2)
