I'm lost. 2A1A vent valve reappearing

So the 2A1A code keeps coming back. I had the vent valve replaced twice and the lines were smoke tested. In the engine bay.

I still have acceleration issues.

When I clear the codes and turn the car off and on the " Tank ventilation valve Tev pwm is around 28.9 percent.
And the" corrected setpoint flow tank ventilation (KG/L)" is .6. After a few min both drop to 0

Even when reset it quickly goes to zero and sets the code unless I reset and turn off and on the car.

Can it be the DMTL pump or filter cartridge?

Someone said that the dealer had to perform SIB 16 01 08 because replacing the vent valve didn't solve the problem.

I'd really appreciate it if anyone could point me in the right direction. Thanks.

I have a suspicion that it's a programming issue because I can turn the tank venting solenoid on but eventually it'll turn off after a few min of driving.

I'm thinking it might be a system check that is causing it to turn of. I'm looking for Ecu jobs thst say "luft" in it but I'm a little lost because they're almost all in German.

I think I found something that might be the issue with my car. Any pointers on how I could do this without going to the dealer? https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...39765-3633.pdf

Wait so I read that and it says the repair information is given after submitting a puma case. Or is it just programming that has to be done with ista as stated there? I would doubt that's the actual issue. Does the dmtl pump work when initiated in inpa/ista?

I believe it's just programming to be done with ista with the hope that it solves the problem. Dmtl seems to be working fine i get readings from it when I turn off the car as it should. It shouldn't turn on unless the engine is off.
If someone was to perform these updates would I lose the tune on the car?

I'm wondering if there's an obstruction between the tank and and the vent valve?

You could check for that. I've heard of the charcoal filter sometimes falling apart. If you have ista you should then follow the steps to resolve the issue as per what it says in the program and it'll probably flash it by itself. I doubt it would go as far as flashing the entire dme, at least I would hope not.

Gunner did you ever figure this out?
In another thread gbalthrup said to get the P codes because they could narrow down the 2A1A code.
I have the 2A1A code on my 06 330i 237k mi that sets off the SES every couple months but then disappears. I notice no performance issues and the P code on my car is P0440. Since it causes no noticeable issues and we have no emissions testing in Michigan, I haven't aggressively pursued a solution.

Sorry for not noticing that you posted here. For some reason I didn't get a notification that you posted.

It seemed to have went away for a bit after replacing the vent valve and dmtl but it came back. There are no cracks in the lines.

I'm wondering if a line is clogged. Or the charcoal canister is cracked or flooded with gas?

No problem. I have over 243k mi now and the error still comes and goes every month or two. I always stop the pump the first time it clicks when filling but don't know if that reduces the chance of an error light.
I was hoping the issue would be rectified with those parts being replaced.

I guess third times the charm? My fuel tank vent valve was bad. Finally put in a properly working one.

Though I have to say that the car doesn't feel as fast or responsive as when it was broken. But it did feel as if the car was learning so maybe adaptions? It doesn't seem as fuel efficient either. Though maybe it's the different fuel that I used.

Funny that the same thing happened to me. I had the 2A1A reappear a few weeks after I replaced the valve, replaced again and never went away. Replaced a 3rd time 3 months later and bam gone.

Though I must note that I never felt any decrease in power while the 2A1A was on.

Yeah it seemed like there was actually more power with the code on. Maybe it's just different fuel. I don't know.
