After im done working in the engine bay and want to continue when my parts come or whenever. How do i make sure nothing catches on fire or anything. I have 3 wires with open connecters? I tape the ends of it so no dust gets in. Is that okay to do? and i taped the Ps res to the strut bar.

Wire nut at the ends or use electric tape around the open end of the wires

Disconnect the negative battery terminal in the trunk. Then there is no danger of anything shorting out. Make absolutely sure that you don't close the trunk unless you have a working keyhole in the trunk lid or access to the trunk through the rear seats.

I dont have a working keyhole Yikes. And I dont wanna disconnect the battery. I just closed the hood and tape the ends of the wires. Is there actually events like this were cars catch on fire after removing all this? Intake Box, Throttle body, and disa?. Its three connectors, Big Disa, MAF, and the one connected to the throttle body.

Uh, I'm not sure about that.

All ik is electric tape is used so you won't conduct any sort of electrical current.

No, it will not catch on fire.
You can tape up the connector ends for dust.
The actual electrical pins are recessed into the connector itself so the metal doesn’t contact anything.
You’d have to be real lucky for the connector to land on something thin enough to slide into the connector and short anything, let alone catch fire.

You can disconnect the battery if you’re still worried. Use a screw driver to close the trunk latch while the trunk is open and let it rest on the striker/latch.

I use a piece of cardboard taped to the surround to stop the latch from latching.

you should disconnect the battery before you start unplugging things in the engine bay.

I never tape up/cover connectors unless I'm washing/cleaning/spraying stuff in the bay. I never disconnect the battery unless I'm working with direct 12V power feeds (Starter/Alternator) and with 20 years of building engines/cars I've never had or heard of anyone having an issue.

That being said being cautious isn't a bad thing, and if it puts your mind at ease; by all means

Like Lemans suggested, disconnect the negative battery terminal and disable the trunk latch. I use a shop rag stuffed in the receiving side of the latch. You should be depowering the car for most under-hood work, it is part of almost any procedure that involves the electrical system.

2one3E90 has a 330i so there *is* a keyhole on the trunk.

the issue with not disconnecting the battery and then plugging and unplugging things in the engine bay is not a fire, it's potentially damaging a powered up piece of electronics.

Just disconnect the damned battery. It's literally 5 minutes. You've wasted more time taping and untaping connectors and making this post.

I think he also has a newer 328 but could be wrong. If it's a 330 I wouldn't be concerned at all with the trunk key hole. We struggled like crazy when I shut the trunk in a friends e92 we were changing the battery on and the car didn't have fold down seats or a keyhole being a 2011.

Only way your car is gonna catch on fire is from a massive oil leak going on the exhaust manifold from the valve cover, the ridiculously low chance of the early model pcv heater melting, or a short that somehow doesn't flow a fuse in the blower motor. Everything else don't stress it
