Fuel Pump(s)
Ok so, dumb question. I only recently picked up my 2008 335, and as such I still am very new to the N54. The high pressure fuel pump on the car has already been done, but I keep seeing online mention of low pressure fuel pump upgrades. Are there multiple fuel pumps on the engine? I couldn't find a good answer online

Yes, LPFP in the passenger side of the fuel tank, and the HPFP bolted to the engine.

The low pressure fuel pump normally found in the fuel pump normally needs to be upgraded if you start running E85 mixes or full E85. This one usually supplies around 72ish (70-80PSI)
The High Pressure Fuel pump lives back below the alternator and supplies much higher pressure fuel to the fuel rail and injectors. This one supplies much higher PSIs. A healthy unit usually delivers above 2000 PSI across full RPM range. |
