MHD Burbles won’t burble
I have catless downpipes and otherwise stock 335i M sport exhaust. No matter how I set the burbles settings, they’re barely noticeable and usually aren’t present at all.
Any ideas?

It’s your muffler if the settings are correct.
You need to delete it or do the PE mod. What RPM do you have the burble setting at? Auto or manual? Are you actually flashing the DME? Or just selecting options on the app? I have catless DPs with PE muffler mod with burbles set at max at 2400 on my auto 335i. During normal auto, they’re not noticeable. DS mode, they’re a little noticeable. In manual mode running the RPMs up and letting off the throttle brings pops. Neutral revs have the clean/crispy pops. |

Hey, thanks. I've attached screenshots of two variations of settings I've tried. The higher rpm seemed to give some slight burbles, but nothing like what I've heard from others running stock exhaust.
I am flashing the DME, stage 0 for now, almost ready to do 1+, then 2+. I am 6MT.

It’s probably your muffler.
Unbolt Your down pipes from the exhaust and rev it to see if you get burbles. Also the car has to be warm. I hey get anything when the car is cold. |

If I want more burbles should I set it to a higher rev / rpm? And longer seconds or shorter? thanks!

The RPM setting is just the minimum where the burples start. I have it at 1200. The duration is how long it burples/pops for. And aggressiveness is how loud/aggressive. I'm fully stock exhaust wise and kind sounds like gunshots at 4.5k RPM. Although I have an IS so the IS exhaust but I doubt it makes a huge difference. |

Mine doesn't burble much even when warmed up. I've tried RPMs at 1K, 1200, 2200, and 2400. I've tried medium and aggressive, as well as 1.5s and as long as possible. And the engine is currently running great with new NGK plugs, coils, and index 12 injectors.

I guess at this point you'd have to do a video. Do this as a test, let the car warm up fully then at standstill floor it and let go when it's around 4.5k rpm it should be like gun shots. Also for the test put it othe maximum aggressiveness. I'm curious because I had a friend who had a older E92 and he installed MHD and all and his burples were really silent even at max RPM so idk if it's the same situation. We never found the source of the issue and he sold the car but yeah. He did have some weird acceleration hesitations issue though but yeah. Idk if the muffler really does that much of a difference. |

I read some other threads where members say to drive the car through a few drive cycles or 10-20 miles. Others say to re flash it.
Mine worked right away. I still think it’s your muffler. I’d bet if you loosened the bolts on the Dow pipes to exhaust and revved it, you get the pops. |

Going straight pipes would sound wicked without a burbles tune, hahah. I don't want to delete the muffler but I wouldn't mind having less of a muffler. Exhaust is just not where I'm putting my money right now. I'm open to ideas though!

Well obviously don’t leave the Down pipes loose.
I was just saying to try that in your driveway or around the block so you can verify it’s the muffler stopping the burbles. You can cut the muffler off and have a shop weld a straight pipe for relatively cheap. But I don’t think it will sound good. Or do the PE mod if you know how to weld. |
