Frozen Dark Blue II M4 CS with BMW Nano wax.
Hi there, haven't seen a lot on the BMW Nano wax for matte cars outside of another older thread in this forum. I don't think our cars are too common, so wanted to post up my results here. I purchased the wax and application kit straight from BMW for around $250. Seemed pretty steep, but after using the wax I think you can easily get four to five applications from the bottle provided so it's not a bad deal at all.
I hadn't hand waxed a car in about 20 years, and it wound up taking me about 3 hours as I took my time. I used one of the small applicators for the bumpers, front fenders, rear deck, and the pillars (I used standard wax plus my buffing wheel for the carbon roof). I used the big applicator for everything else, hood, doors, quarters, and trunk lid. The wax is really weird having never used it before, it's almost like a grease/oil you smear on the car. A little bit goes A LONG WAY, don't lather up the applicators right away. A little dab on the corners is really all you need for almost an entire panel. I'm serious, too much and it's an absolute mess. I used too much on the first panel as I couldn't believe how far the product went! Anyway I'm really happy with the way it came out. There were a couple of areas on the car with minor oxidation, and the wax took it right out. I'm sure it's temporary, but if it lasts for three months or so that would be awesome. It appeared to give the car a bit of a darker appearance, so I'm really looking forward to overcast/night conditions as I'm sure the car will look really purple which I love. The color looks really rich to me now, I think it's an improvement! Here are some pics of the product and photos taken in broad daylight immediately afterwards. Thanks! |

Couple front shots. Yes I know I need to get my hood/front bumper adjusted a bit. BMW installed new ICONs for me last week and didn't do the best job putting the front bumper back on, will get it fixed up on the next oil change/service there.

Thanks a ton! Yeah I think it came out well and looks pretty bonkers at night. Had to make three stops tonight on errands and got asked about the car by a random stranger all three times. I should have taken some pictures but didn't have my phone with me, it has sort of a wet/purplish look to it yet still catches all the lights. I'm interested to see if the minor sheen hangs around after a few washes or if it will go away fairly quickly. The application itself went on extremely well, with hardly any of that haze like there was too much wax for example. It was very easy to polish it with the finishing cloth.
I just wish I had done it sooner! |
