What should I do 'black rubber/plastic' cover surrounding a connector/cable melting
Hello,
I had some oil leaks and some of these black covering are damaged to the point where i can see the wire inside (This image is not mine but i wanted to show what the black cover i am referring to). View post on imgur.com What would be the best way to cover this up? I am looking to buy one of those black eletric tape and just wrap it around it. Is this safe and good way to prevent damages? https://www.amazon.com/Wapodeai-Elec...s%2C232&sr=8-2 |

oil level sensor and secondary (post cat) O2 sensors (2x) .
Always a good idea to protect them. electrical tape, new plastic sleeve (wire loom), heat wrap, shrink wrap, etc. You can find some split sleeve so you simply wrap it around the wire without unplugging anything. it's close to the exhaust, so can be hot. I'm lazy and I would simply tape it if it's that bad. |

If the insulation itself is missing and you see metal wire, you will need electrical tape or liquid electrical tape or even shrink wrap like mentioned. If instead it is just the plastic tubing, you can usually buy generic tubing at local stores. Or you can also just electrical tape over.
