How to close trunk

How do you guys close your trunk without getting finger prints all over the paint? On my old car it had a built in handle inside the trunk deck. Just curious....

Inside on the trunk lid are 2 cut out grab holes. Grab with one hand and pull.

Use cut out grab hole on inside of door to swing door down, then one finger on the plate to push it all the way closed!

You know where the release is...if you try to close it with that, and start driving, the signal will go off saying the trunk is open. It's got some kind of sensor on it, so when you close it and use that handle, you are actually opening it again when you are slamming it. It took me a few weeks to actually figure that out.

If you can't get the feel of using the grab-holes inside the trunk lid....use your palm on the Roundel (the BMW logo) and push down. At least you can't see the fingerprints on that.

In my E60 there was a demo of this in the video that came with the car.

mercedes makes a license plate frame with a little grab handle. you could try that... the mb sign is nowhere on the frame so it shouldn't matter to us

If you have the folding rear seats, you can close the trunk from the inside, and then get out through the back seats.

Use one of the grab holes inside the trunk top to pull it down, then push on the licence plate to close if needed. Those who think the question is funny clearly do not have black cars

Touching the paint wouldn't be a problem if you didn't see your clear hand print on it after you do so. Touch the car a few times after you wash it and it looks like crap. Again, anyone who thinks this is funny doesn't have a black one.

Agreed...black cars get nasty fingerprints all over if you're not careful. I use the door handle to close up or on occassion I use my hip to keep my hands off the car. Always have a microfiber towel in the car for touch-ups. Black is a labor of love.

Guys the door sills above the window line can be used for closing. They sorta take fingerprints but not very badly. Nothing like black paint. Although if you can get used to going for the door handle every time that's even better. Its just tought o reach around to them in tight spots.

The trunk? I just close pulling/pressing on the area underneath the license plate. Doesn't really show up on my Arctic car. No other really convenient way that I found.

On my (soon to be replaced) E46 I grab the grab hole inside the trunk lid and give it a pull with just the right amount of force, and it closes without me having to touch the ouside of the lid at all.
Sure this is possible on E90 as well? Seem to remember doing it while testing one, it was actually easier to do on the E90 that my old E46.

Welcome. You'll find this board to be pretty addictive, even after you get your E90.

Thanks

For sure!! I'm always around the Audi forums. Before I used to surf around some Subaru Legacy forums too but I find that there are actually much more fun with Euro car forums.. especially the BMW and Audi ones! the MB ones are less fun partly because they rarely mod their cars I guess? At least I don't get what they are talking about most of the time.

I heard from my friend it is possible for a dealer to buy your car right even though you're leasing it. Is this true?
