interior lights stay on

pulled in a dark garage and noticed for the first time the interior lights stay on after i exit and lock the car. they finally go off about 8 minutes later.

i never noticed they stayed on so long before... is this normal?

Your door may be open. Check them. The lights going out 8 minutes later is the battery saving feature. You also may want to make sure your lights are set to Auto or Off.

Our cars are smart enough to not drain the battery if left like that. The downside is that you may think that all is fine even if a door or a trunk lid are not properly closed.

This is another reason why the OEM alarm is great. IF one of your doors or the trunk is ajar and you try to arm the alarm after walking away from the car, it will not chirp - indicating something is not right.

^^ I dont have the alarm but i always look to see if my hazards flash as i press the lock button. If they dont flash then one of my doors is open.
