Did you order your BMW yet liverpool?

PS. Steptronic is awesome. Some people doesn't want to get manual and there is nothing wrong with that.

I agree with you personally. I think it's a waste to buy that car with an AT as well--but each to his own. This is America, and contrary to the rest of the world, the majority of Americans prefer driving automatic transmission because it seems more "practical" and because frankly some people are just too lazy and looking for extra comfort.

I like my transmissions not to fail at 80,000 miles

manuals only for me.

I don't need a stinking computer telling me what gear I should be in.

Americans are such lazy slobs that most can't be bothered with shifting gears. It would inconvenience their phone conversations, eating, drinking, shaving, putting makeup on, slapping the crap out of the kids in back, getting road head, reading, changing clothes, and whatever the heck else.

Most americans don't care about "driving" they care about having a "fancy" car. If we gave a crap about driving over here more than 10% of new cars would be sold with a manual transmission.

Why? As a driver who much prefers driving stick, here's why...

(1) Wife has no desire to learn, however will need to drive the car every so often.

(2) Try driving a stick on a 200km round trip commute in bumper-to-bumper traffic 5-6 days a week

(3) A/T has come along way and BMW's steptronic actually works when gearing down (as opposed to the G35 which I found just made a lot of noise)

(4) Have a true sports toy in the garage for weekend play on country roads that's a stick if you can.

Alex.

i was forced to get auto transmission cuz in two years my sister will use my car and she dont use manual... if it wasnt for that i would have gotten a manual....

also, i think that all the people who do the typical 9-5 commute are the people who buy auto cuz of the traffic but true performance enthusiasts get manual

Have you actually driven the 330 with automatic/steptronic? I've test driven the manual and steptronic manual and the result... no difference. You can use each gear to its fullest effectively as the manual. The DS mode on the steptronic is just awesome. The computer does a great job of shifting a max potential. Just go test drive both before you think others are wasting money.

If I want a stick shift car, I'll either get an m3/m5 or a coupe. Plus SMG is the future of sports cars.

Automatic is so much more practical for daily driving.

Agreed

What's even worse than someone driving an AT on a 330i SP is a person caring so much about it to make a thread about something so stupid.

So we can all sit here and bash Americans........smart thread....

I agree with you completely

My reasons for buying automatic WITHOUT sports package

1) I commute to New York City

2) My dad and brother prefers automatic since they will also drive the car

Also, when i intend to buy a sports car, I will get it manual because thats what they are made for.

Why not? What do you care? I'm sorry but I fail to see how someone else getting a A/T for their car affects you at all. Like some other members have said, it is their money, they can do as they wish.

I got a 330i auto sport and the main reason is TRAFFIC. Im in Brooklyn, NY right outside NYC and I dont know whats worse the traffic here or whats in the city. All the expressways and parkways around here are parking lots. Also some people like stiff suspension and the seats in the sports package are more comfortable!!!!!
