Can a bad hpfp pump cause performance loss?? The thing is that my car responds with a lot of power when i gently easy in on the throttle but if i slam it down its hell slow. Whats going on here

Really??

The more you step on the throttle the more fuel your engine requires,
so if you your fuel pump cannot keep up with the demand your performance suffers

That's actually the symptoms that I think I started with... Before the "longer" cranks...

Why don't you just do a HPFP search? Plenty of info. on this issue.

Unless you get the actual half/engine indicator showing reduced power then there is no official sign of HPFP failure, other than the regular symptoms. However, I did not notice a decrease in performance before mine went out, personally..
