Cup holder helpful tip

Not sure if anyone has done this or posted this....but I figured I would share anyway.

Coming from my old e36 I had a fixed cup holder and would just do the napkin under the drink to keep the moisture from the cup from puddling in the bottom of the cup holder.

With the new e93 cup holders I tried that and the napkin keeps getting caught in the adjustable plastic part of the cup holder.

Without the napkin, it drips all over my passenger.

So, I took a napkin and a cup sleeve and....now it does not catch, it is easy to take in and out....and no more drips.

Cup holders don't come standard in European models and my car does not have it. Anyone know if it is an after market option?

Here you have to get the "storage package", option #493 for 139 EUR.. sucks. You'd think this should be standard by now..

It wouldn't be that hard. Especially if you have a black interior.

Just remove the cup holders. Put a thin piece of styrene or something behind the slots, bondo, and plasti dip.

If you have a different colored trim, the problem would be matching the color.

They really are in the worst spot ....ever.

I do miss them in the center...I wonder if someone out there has created something that could fit in to the sunglass holder.

Also, my passengers feel like if they are left open when they get in or out they might hit them.

I actually like the position of the cup holders...most cars in the past I've owned (Japanese modesl) had the cup holder right where I wanted to place my arm...Just don't fill your coffee cup to the brim and it won't spill

I let my friend drive my car once, and we had both cup holders open with drinks in them, and as i got out and sat down in the passanger seat, i annialated both cup holders to the point of no return. I drove to the dealer and said it just broke and they replaced it free. Gotta love the warranty haha

I wanted to take this approach but ultimately decided it was the expressway to being a douche.
