I need somebody to tell me this is a good idea.

This could get long so here is the summary-

I have an 07 328i Sedan, 6spd, w/95k miles and no warranty, although no current problems. I'd feel much better driving a car with a warranty and included service costs.

Thinking about trading it in to lease a 2013 335i Coupe with every option I could want.
With this model right before the F30 update they are trying to clear e90 stock and have really aggressive lease rates, basically I'll be paying monthly for this 335i (msrp $56,795) the same I would pay to lease an F30 328i with a msrp of low $40's.

My questions-
Huge mistake to get a 2013 e90 versus a f30? Although if I got the f30 I could probably only budget for a 328i with half the options I want.

How different is the 2013 335i Coupe from the 2012, 2011, 2010, etc?

Anyone have experience leasing one of these as far as additional expenses outside of warranty/included service? What should I budget for besides tires?

Lease deal wise should I push it and wait another month to see if the money factor improves and risk losing a car with the options I want?

2013 335i Coupe, Black Sapphire Metallic / Saddle Brown Dakota Leather / Bamboo Anthracite trim
M-Sport Package
Premium Package
Premium Sound Package
Syle 230 Wheels (19")
Comfort Access (all I care about from convenience package)
Heated front seats
Navigation w/BMW apps
MSRP $56,795.00
INVOICE $52,795

I'm getting it for $53,392, so $597 over invoice.
Also getting rebates of $3,250 (USAA, Loyalty, Lease Credit)
Purchase price $50,142.
Doc Fee $599
Tax $264.73
Non Tax Fees $964
Trade allowance $11,500 (for my 07 328i)
Bank payoff for my old car $8,599.61
Balance $51,357.07

According to dealership, Doc Fee and Non Tax Fees are set in stone and even he pays them, this true?

At that price with 10k miles/month and no additional cash down for a 36month lease it's $489/month w/tax (6%).

Other thing is I will probably go way over allowed miles because of work, personal use wise I'll be fine. So my plan is since I get to expense 55cents/mile for work I'll just put aside 16cents/mile (or prob round up to .20) and take advantage of that deal where you can buy additional miles at 16cents/mile as long as it is 120 days before lease maturation date.

What would you do?

you already played with the 328. Get the 335 just because it's a new toy. That car is sharp no matter if it isn't a F30. Have you driven the F30 to make a judgement call between the two models? Your money and your opinion is what counts not all the opinions (or assholes) that are on this forum.

I drove both the 328i and 335i Sedan F30's.
they're both great, love the 8spd transmission, exterior improvements, new gauge cluster (although I do not like how in direct sunlight you can see all of the indicator lights that are not illuminated), new automatic shifter is nice, sport/eco mode toggle is cool, key fob also nice.
I will say that I am NOT a fan of the navi screen sticking up out of the dash versus being inline with the dash like on the e90's.

The 328i f30 (which is all I could budget if I leased an f30) isn't bad, even if I got a good deal on it and could get most of the options I wanted in budget I just don't know if I'll be happy paying that much more than I am with my current car and still having a 328i.

What do you like better about the F30 keyfob?

The new key FOB just looks better, accent color looks nice and having a dedicated button for the alarm.

If you have any mid term financial concerns, I would not do it. Otherwise, it sounds like a great deal for a great car.

This is the reason I avoid dealerships. There is always a great deal. I would tell you to just make sure it is not an impulse purchase.

Interesting, mine is almost identical to my E9x keyfob and doesn't have the alarm button or accent colors.

Your current 328 is easily good for another 4-5 years of driving. Better option in the long run is to keep your current ride and put the money in the bank so you can buy a new 2017, or better yet an off lease 2015.

I think it depends on what version of the car you have and if you have the alarm.

You'll take a serious hit when it comes time to upgrade the 335i to whatever it is you in the future (it too will be out of warranty one day ;-) ) as it'll be the old previous generation by then.

I'd personally hold out for the new F32. You'll get to drive the "new" model for 6-7 yrs as well as the warranty.

I think your depreciation hit is going to be huge. Pending you're ok with that it's not too big of a deal, just not a great financial decision. Also, don't get a lease thinking you'll go over the allotted miles. That's just dumb.

It is a great time to LEASE an "old" 3. The great thing about leasing is that your costs are all fixed (other than rubber). Running a 335 out of warranty is something I would never consider. Trouble with 335 is that going in there are a few KNOWN problems. Leasing and giving it back when warranty is up is the only way to go with these things IMO.

What do you mean depreciation hit? How does that apply to a lease unless I was planning to buy it at the end of the 36 months?

As far as going over the mileage I know I won't for personal use, it's the business miles I can't estimate (I'm a developer, next project could be close to home or a 200 mile round trip) so that's where I decided I would just save 20cents of every business mile reimbursement.

Unless your one of those types of people that needs the newest and greatest, id say go for the e92 335i...the difference between a 335 and 328 is night and day. Especially considering the one your looking at is well optioned and has m-sport...

I personally would not drive an f30 without m-sport, not sure if thats part of the f30 you have in your budget or not. And the key fob isnt that important considering you have comfort access therefore your never using the key anyway!

As well i dont think you will need to expect any additional costs for the 335 besides tires but your talking atleast 2 years down the line. If possible id add the tire warranty package because with 2 flats you will make your money back.

Also you could possibly sell your 328 privately and make more then 11,500. Just a suggestion. I never trade in my cars to the dealer unless you want to get ass raped.

Why not wait a bit for the f30 335i used prices to drop a bit and buy it CPO'ed. It's not like you don't have a car. In the meantime, you can insure your 328i with an aftermarket warranty if you like.

Good point. If you're not considering buying the car at the end you're clean there. I was thinking this might be a consideration should you go over the mileage by a wide margin.

If you like the car, go for it! Personally, I like the e92 MUCH more than the F30.
