Maybe selling, help me decide on potential new car
May be putting my E90 up for sale, and wanted to hear some guesstimates about what she might be worth in the open market.
I understand that price will vary depending on market and location, but just looking for varying opinions and some guidance. Reason for selling is that there have been a couple of issues lately that have affected my ability to get to and from work (approx 60 miles round trip per day). I do not have an extended warranty, so don't want to deal with this inconvenience as well as the money factor. 2006 325xi, Cold Weather Package, Nav 40,000 miles Also, my most important question - if I were to sell (assuming I could get anywhere from $15-18k. Car is paid off, but I'd like to pocket a few thousand which leaves me able to spend anywhere from $11-15k. Can you suggest something that might comparable to my e90 in terms of class, mpg, sportiness, etc? Don't really care about year/mileage, as long as it will still be dependable in its age. THANKS EVERYONE! |

not sure value for your car, but for replacement within that cost, what about an e46 zhp, or acura TL?

I'd look at a G35 - I always say they are 95% of a BMW for thousands less. Some people care about that final 5% (I do), but others don't. I imagine you can get a 2004-2006 in that $10-$15k range, private party.

I say also look into the older S4's. The B6 and B5's can be had for very little and if you get something like the B5 you can make it very fast

I would honestly just keep your car... It would be pretty hard to find something that is as great as your car for around 10-15k...

I think you'd be making a mistake to change cars now. You won't find something as nice in your price range. Things break, persevere through it. Most work places are accommodating when employees have occasional car issues. You have 40k miles, your car should be good to go without major issues. Was likely a fluke.

Why are you putting it for sale for something in that price range? The only thing comparable in that price range is maybe another E90. Also, your car only has 40,000 miles and iDrive, so finding those kinds of options in similarly priced cars will be quite difficult. Also, what happens if your replacement car starts to break down? If you're having problems at 40,000 miles, they are probably things that are relatively simple to fix that won't go bad again for a long time.
With that said, you should be looking at an Infiniti G35, Acura TL, Mercedes C-Class, or an Audi A4.
