BMW M4 DTM Car Imagined by Jon Sibal
BIMMERPOST NEWS BMW M4 DTM Car Imagined by Jon Sibal Jon Sibal shares with BIMMERPOST his vision of what a BMW M4 DTM racer could look like. Starting with one of our images from the Pebble Beach reveal, he has transformed the already aggressive looking M4 Concept into a monster (the good kind). If you didn't catch the news earlier, BMW has already announced (but not yet revealed) an M4 DTM car for the 2014 DTM race series. “We are all really looking forward to the new BMW M4 DTM,” said BMW Motorsport Director Jens Marquardt. “The BMW Concept M4 Coupé certainly looks fantastic. So will our DTM car for next season – I can already promise all the fans that much. The BMW M3 DTM won the title at the first attempt in 2012. We obviously want to follow on from this success with its successor. However, it will still be quite a while until we get to see our new DTM racing car for the first time.” “A year ago we celebrated the 40th anniversary of BMW M and the 25th birthday of the BMW M3 in style, with Bruno Spengler winning the DTM race,” said Dr. Friedrich Nitschke, President of BMW M GmbH, in Pebble Beach. “With the launch of the BMW Concept M4 Coupé, we are now laying the foundation for a new era, both on the road and on the racetrack. The reactions to the Concept Car have so far been overwhelming. It is almost a matter of course to use it as the basis for a motorsport version. The DTM is obviously the ideal platform for this step. All fans of BMW M and the DTM certainly have good reason to start looking forward to 2014.” |

Isn't this 'kit' already in use? Thought I saw a yellow one looking similar the other day on here.

M3 DTM uses the P66 which will almost surely power the M4 as well. It will be a 4.0L V8 as always, per regulations, so there is no compelling reason to create something new just because there is a new version of the production car.
And yes, this is a nice render. The new light shape and grill will look great on the car. I do somewhat doubt we'll see the production car's hood line in front however. |

It's because DTM cars share very little with a production car in the way of aesthetics (or anything else for that matter). They all look more like each other than any of them look like production cars, even the one with which they share names. This is not a kit, but an entirely race specific carbon fiber body whose details are determined mostly by aerodynamic concerns rather than the design of a production car.

looks great. would like to see it with the hood lines run straight along the top of the fender instead of the fender curving into the hood.

Pffffftttttt.
Going with 14" fender flares for a reason? It looks silly and will not be accurate if they (for some reason) change the body style but keep the previous 4.0L. The M4 body is wider than the M3, so why would the fender flares nearly double in size?? Hahahaha |

Good concept, flares are a tad on the wide side (like a 70's pair of denim jeans!) be great to see what the race car will look
