Also says it's inline six. Not sure how reliable the magazine's sources are? Torque is quoted as 540Nm (398ft.lbs), 100ft.lbs more than the S65! Thanks to Uli HH for the info Last edited by Boss330; 08-16-2013 at 04:29 AM.. |

It'd definitely handle better than the E92 though

If it really is only 422PS, it is dissapointing. IMO, the M4 needs at least 30PS (hp) more to remain competitive in the segment (especially at higher speeds), even with a 3300lb curb weight. I guess they are keeping room for a "performance" package option...

Anyway, the power to weight ratio would be far better than the E9x M3. The M3/M4 is more of a canyon carver than autobahn cruiser (M5). So they are probably more concerned about agility than outright top end speed. That is also reflected in the 250/280km/h speed limits (if correct). The M5 has a optional speed limit above 300km/h. |

If that image posted above is correct, it would be essentially the same horsepower with +100 lb/ft of torque. And only 3,300 lbs. No mention of redline which is one thing I'm very interested in.

I'm not comparing to my E90 I'm comparing to what the competition will have available at the time of this release.

Don't know how accurate this is, but I looked up a a Car and Driver article and it stated that the other car I'm interested in, a 997.1 Turbo weighs 3400 lbs. Of course we don't know how the weight is measured, but I still think if BMW managed to lose 400 lbs, that's mighty impressive.

I thought they were closer to 70k with all the toys? But either way, there's no denying the C7 will be a monster. I'm just saying it mops everything on the floor, not just the M4. Kind of like what GT-R's did to the competition when they were released.

Why we comparing this car to a c7? Two TOTALLY DIFFERENT CARS.
I'm ok with 430hp and a weight of 329x pounds. Atleast BMW gives us a really good weight to work it. Add a titanium exhaust and lose another 40 pounds or so. I think this car will be a beast! 3250 pounds w exhaust... Add a tune and down pipes and you'll be at 550-600hp in no time! BMW set the foundation up really well for us all. |

looks like 3300lb (fantastic) 416hp and 398tq. As long as the m4 will look like this in production form I am on "shut up and take my money" bandwagon.
A little less hp as I would like but as long as weight is 3300 I am alright. Fantastic looking car. Also as post above mentioned, BMW lets bring M4 CG. BMW M4 waiting for M3 ...

To me, the only direct competition in the is the AMG C with the CTS-V and RS a close second. Even then, if you want an M, you'll likely get an M. Just like if you really want an AMG, you'll likely get an AMG. ...now BMW just needs to make sure a puny little I6 will run with the big boys . Considering the S65 started design a decade ago and still incorporated nearly every now-modern trick except direct injection, I continue to have faith in our boys in Munich. |
