How many have never used their factory extended warranty?
It's not looking good for me, may never use it. I extended 3 yrs. to 7/100.
My friend says you never know, so don't look back. Heck you've made much more and lost much more on trades. I guess I did have my reasons for buying the warranty, though there is an emergent pattern where obviously the house wins as a whole. That should say something to those folks who are looking to buy used, mine is a 2007. |

My only comment is that "there is an emergent pattern" is completely false.
The house ALWAYS wins. This is just like any other form of insurance. If the house wasn't winning, they would either not offer the service, or they would charge more for it. |

Health care: My wife's cousin's husband had an accident at work at a construction site, $2,800 emergency room visit, $1,400 follow-up, no insurance. My wife had a $3k procedure yet our member responsibility was $0, as were every procedure since March. She pays $200/mo. roughly to cover our family, so that's one where maybe the insurance co. still doesn't lose as they are administrators. But necessarily her employer who is UK-based does have more flowing out than going in, in the case of pregnancy. |

I personally never had warranty since I bought a Cali Le-mons car But my buddy has CPO'ed 08 E92 with extended warranty bought at 40k now at 60k in about a year.
The only "real" repair he got covered under it was fuel injector replacement. He said it started stumbling so he took it in and they replaced all injectors. Probably didn't need all of them replaced but hey. Then he took it in for bunch of silly stuff. The brake force lights were throwing a code, so dealer replaced one of the housings. One of the coolant houses supposedly also got a small leak so they replaced all of them along with the water pump. So he did end up getting lot of "free stuff" so far but not exactly on critical stuff I'd worry about. |

I haven't entered my extended warranty time yet, but I have had the following dealt with under the original warranty:
-Rear window gasket replaced -Headlights corrected after one stopped operating properly -Warped rear rotors replaced -Cupholder replaced -Diagnosis and repairs made to DST/DCT/E-LSD after near catastrophic failure of the control modules -Radiator replaced due to split seam -Fix issue with radio which would emit screeching sounds even when turned off

How much longer are you keeping the 335is, Sara? Because, having driven a lot of the f3x's, I can say that, for now at least, there isn't anything that comes close to the looks or road feel of my 335, let alone a 335is.

Awesome! but you will at some point. Just had my water pump replaced and my A/C will need something soon. I usually dont keep cars long but as someone mentioned not much out there regarding the new models except the M cars. So, Im keeping mine for the long haul, unless of course, if an e60 M5 pops up that I just cannot resist

Hah, I'd love to, but need to stick with sedans for the time being. Thanks for the offer!

Insurance only makes sense where you can spend a modest amount of money to mitigate the risk of a large loss, AND you cannot afford to cover that loss out of pocket. So health insurance makes sense, and homeowner's insurance, and car insurance. But mechanical breakdown insurance?? At best you are pre-paying for repairs that may never happen. Once in a great while, it might pay off big, but the odds are certainly better in Vegas.
Ultimately, if you can't afford to fix a car out of warranty, you bought the wrong car in the first place.
