New owner

Last week I bought an almost new (2,900 miles) 2013 328i MT coupe. It is my 2nd BMW. I look forward to being part of this community.

Regards,
Guido in NJ

Why did you give up the M5? I loved those classic E28's, but they do take some maintenance.

It had 169k miles and 25yrs. A big ($$$) engine maintenance bill was needed. I fell it was time to move on

Congrats on the new car. Beautiful M5. Was it your daily? Guess it was time to get something newer. Looks like you have an old Merc still lurking in the back too

An 89 MB 300SE is my daily driver. You can see it in some of the following pics next to the M5. The 72 MB 250C is another toy. M5 was a hobby. To fill the void of the M5 I got an S2000. I am going to sell both MBs in order to have a place to garage the 328i.

Thanks so much to all that complimented the M5. Yes, it is a beautiful car. The engine is gorgeous. Loved the sound of the engine. Mine had a straight pipe from the engine to the rear muffler. You could see the flames on the tail pipes if you accelerate hard.

I'm truly not trying to be an ass and forgive me if I'm wrong but why did you go from an m5 to a 328i. I mean I own a 328i and love it but an m5 to a 28? Again just curious.

The 328i is going to be my daily driver. It is not the replacement for the M5. M5 was a 20+ year old car with close to 200K miles. It was either, a) invest a significant amount of money on the M5 or b) sell it and use some of the money to buy another fun car. I chose "b)" and bought an S2000. When I drove the M5 I worried about getting stranded. I avoided driving long distances. I've taken the S2000 to Watkins Glenn, Lime Rock, the Dragon without worrying about getting stranded. The M5 was a state or the art in 1987, but 20+ yrs is a long time in technology improvements.
