New E90 328i owner! Build question

I recently got my hands on a 07 328i AT with now 74k. The car is almost completely to my liking cosmetically but I haven't done any performance work, YET. I'm planning on:
K&N Drop-in + Charcoal Delete
AA Exhaust
BMS PBX
RPI Scoops (maybe)
3IM swap
In that order.
Now, my question is will the PBX basically be useless once all other mods are in? I'm not sure if the exhaust, filter and 3IM will get rid of the throttle lag. Am I better off just waiting and getting a tune when all is done? Here's some pics if the car too thanks guys

Beautiful car, not a fan of the trunk spoiler though.

Nice, love the wheels! Not a fan of the dual spoiler (rear window + trunk), plus the trunk one's pretty unique, don't think I've seen that style.

Thanks! Both spoilers are AC Schnitzer Honestly the trunk spoiler looks much more smooth and sleek in person. She doesn't look like your average bimmer but that's what I love about it

Nice Pick up and as for the Mods. The exhaust, filter, and 3im shouldn't have any affect on the throttle delay. The BMS power box will pretty much get rid of all the delay however to use the full potential of all those mods a tune will be much better than a piggyback system.

EDIT: Also make sure you know what engine you have first before buying the 3im because the n51 328i engine comes with it already.

if you're planning on doing the stage 3 intake manifold, look into the active autowerke tune instead of pbx.

Great color and rims really set it off. Looks like the front end is sitting a little elevated in the last pics.

Wow after reading that I think I'm definitely going to save my money and go for the AA tune!

install all your performance mods and get the AA tune at the same time. if you're installing yourself, get the Simon tool from AA. otherwise, you have to either send your DME in or have an authorized shop install the tune.

i've got a 330i with the tune and besides the throttle response, the power increase is not as noticeable as if the applying to a 325i/328i. best of luck.

Just found out there are 3 AA recognized shops near me in CT and two are within an hour! Does that mean these shops are capable of installing a custom tune that would maximize the performance of all mods?

Get a AA tune instead of the PBX the difference is night and day.

Thanks guys I really appreciate all the info. The build will be slow but I will keep everyone updated as I progress! Another question, how complicated is the simon tool? I am capable of getting all the parts installed by myself or by my Toyota dealership I work at but I have never dealt with any tuning software. Thanks again!

With those planned performance mods and that rear spoiler causing so much down force you're car will be a rocket for sure. I cant believe there AC Schnitzer either, man you LUCKED out.

I actually drove out to Speed Sport Tuning in Danbury last summer while visiting my family. SST will take a list of what mods you have (or plan to install) before the tune. They'll feed that info to AA and they'll do a custom tune for you.

Need a battery tender while using the simon tool since it takes time to download your stock map and upload the tune.

If you can click a button then you can use the simon tool
1. connect Simon tool to ODB2 port, (car on, engine off..)
2. backup your current ECU data to simon tool
3. connect simon to pc and copy the file to your pc
4. send file to AA, they will modify it and send you back a file that is tunned to your car.
5. copy the modified file from your pc to the SImon tool
6. connect simmon to ODB2 of your car and flash your ECU with the new file

NOTE:
I do recommend you hook up your car to a battery tender when doing this because if the car cuts off the battery during the flash you will be screwed. I think the backing up of the ECU only took a few minutes but the flashing lasted about 10 or 15min.

The best performance mod for a 328i is buying a 335. I wouldn't waste $$ on any of that stuff.

And the best performance mod for a 335 is a M3. I mean we can do this all day. I love my 335 coupe but come on it's not the Veyron that people make it out to be. Having owned a 328 I can testify that a tune+3 stage intake manifold make a world of difference. In fact the tune itself is well worth the money.

I purchased a 328 because I needed a reliable daily without the worry of turbo rebuilds or fuel pumps. Sure, speed is fun but if speed is your goal from day 1, a 328 isn't the car to purchase. The extra money spent in mods to get a 328 to *maybe* the stock 1/4mi times of a 335, could have been used to buy a 335 with some to spare.

You can buy a pre-LCI 335i all day long for 18k with under 60k miles.

Congrats on the new ride! Every search I've done on the 328 tune points at the AA route. They actually have a group buy that ends March 31st if I remember correctly where you can purchase either the tune or tune + simon tool (so you don't have to ship your ECU). Pricing was pretty compelling...I think right around $399 for the tune option, but don't quote me. When it comes time, I will be going with the AA guys. I've always been very impressed with their attention to engineering and quality products.
