Based on looks alone what e92 would you buy LCI or Pre LCI? Having owned and LCI e92, I still prefer the pre lci coupes.

Pre-LCI all the way. I don't really understand how the BMW designers thought the updated version of the coupe would be an upgrade. I think they were trying to make the car more sophisticated-looking and perhaps were trying to make the car take on some of the look of the 6 series.
I had the option of getting the 3 series LCI coupe, but did not get one. I can't believe I'm saying this statement, but the 3 series LCI sedan may be better looking than the LCI coupe. |

On looks alone I would pick pre LCI. I had an '08 before I traded it for my current e90. I liked how the rear "DRLs" were brighter and closer together (lines) compared to the LCI model which were bigger and looked dimmer.

Pre-LCI has sharper lines and looks fiercer.

Wow. Not an e92 fanatic, but IMHO the non-Msport LCI e90 looks a good bit better than the pre-LCI version. Mainly from the rear. I dont know why they didnt do the same to the e92.

I think lci e90 look very good, pre lci e90 are straight up ugly (to me). I think they should have made the lci e90 the new 3 series sedan instead of the f30.

I agree. But BMW thinks about marketing. So, when they have a new model out, they think people will buy it because it is newer and better. But after a few years, it is no longer newer and better, so they have to do a facelift/refresh, which means they have to make cosmetic changes to increase sales. Now if the car looks great from the start, what cosmetic changes can the do? None. So now we know, a new model is SUPPOSED to be less than beautiful. Some might say that it has to be ugly.... Why? Because BMW has to get their midlife sales boost without expensive substantive improvements. They did this very well with the e90, not sure about the e92.

If I knew what I know now, I would go for the 335is
- No headaches with the outer angel eyes not lighting up (aka needing custom headlight work for ~$1000, or DIY for some brave souls with a lot of time to spare.) - The "eyebrow" makes the car look new - N54 - DCT - LCI tails, save ~$600 - The M-sport bumper on the LCI probably looks identical to the one on pre-LCI's to people who doesn't own the car, but I'm sure pre-LCI m-sport guys wishes they had the aggressive LCI m-sport front bumper sharp edges

I have seen both and I am all for LCI. I also wouldn't have bought it without M-sprt, it is a necessity on any bmw IMO. The pre-lci looked outdated to me. And no, the M-sport bumper on pre-lci is nowhere as good looking as the M-sport on lci.
