New Oxygen Sensor = increase in MPG

I have had my 328i for a few months now. About a month ago or so, the Service Engine Soon light came on. The auto parts store scanned it and got an oxygen code. I went to BMW independent shop and he also saw a oxygen sensor code and also some misfires in the same bank.

I average about 29 MPG during a 1600 mile holiday trip driving 95% highway.
Around town I was averaging 17-18 mpg grannying it.

I have only driven about 30 miles around town (with little congestion)since I got my oxygen sensor replaced but it is showing an average of 21.8 MPG (yes I reset it). Also service engine light hasn't come back on.

I don't want to jinx myself but hopefully that SES light stays off and my MPG will stay higher than it was. I would be thrilled to get 20+ MPG city.
