Car Shaking/Overheating

Yesterday I took a drive out to the hills and was going uphill for about 15 minutes. It was about 80 degrees outside and I noticed the engine oil temperature started climbing to around 260-270. Normally when I drive its anywhere from 210-240. I pulled over to the side once I started noticing the increase in oil temperature and while in idle, I felt the car kind of shaking. I noticed I had the AC on and immediately shut it off. I didn't get the yellow or red oil light. After a few minutes the temperature went back to normal and the car ran fine the rest of the day. Can anyone tell me if my car over heated or if any damage might have been done? I've read that normally a yellow oil light indicating oil temperature very hot then a red oil light indicating to turn off the engine pop up and that the engine normally shuts itself off if it gets too hot.

you water pump may be starting to go, but I can tell you mine temperature never got over 200 on the oil gauge when I got the yellow then red over temp indicator. But my pump was a complete failure to stop working completely.
