I beat a Ferarri 458!....
...to the end of first gear, then he had me. I have ESS piggyback set to torque tune +3, ER downpipes, BMC filters, R888 295 rubber in the rear, and 6MT.
We were on a rural road, with three stop lights with 1/2 mile between each. I'm typically not one to race, but I couldn't help myself! I got the jump on him on all three launches, likely because of my sticky tires, and had him by about a car length to 2nd gear, but even powershifting my 6MT his double clutch was a huge advantage and he caught me mid-shift every time and had me by about a car length to the next light but I was reeling him back in after the shift into 3rd. I'm pretty damn impressed with my little ///M against the best that Italy has to offer. He gave me the big thumbs up and we rolled slowly into town together

Video or it didn't happen... JK JK
Thanks for sharing Pete! The R888 really help keep the car down with all that added power!

My 458 is actually a PITA to launch: proper throttle modulation with just the right press after roll. Conversely the 991 GT3 is the most easy RWD car Ive owned to launch. The 458 once in moving state is formidable as long as the driver knows how to drive it and hits the rpms right on shifts.
Nice runs.

That would've been a fun run to see; I love the sound of the 458, it's so angry.

Honestly, that was the best part about the experience. Being 5 feet from that screaming V8 with the windows down gave me goosebumps!

Id love to know the outcome with a DCT. Manual are too behind the times now to hold up against proper super cars with dual clutch gearbox's. But sounds like you were rowing pretty well to get that result. Well done OP.

I see Ferrari forum members trolling in here and calling it M4 Zone!

Lol, I actually did some googling around to see if there ever was a 458 vs M4 race... interestingly enough...
Is this you OP? Not entirely sure how this is possible but... a vid is a vid

Damn, that was a speciale model too.
I ran my buddies 458 with tubi exhaust and another really loud 458 in my 997 gt3 from 60-140 and they easily have 2 cars on me and pulling. Sorry no videos...

Pretty impressive you were able to keep it that close considering he has 575 hp and dual clutch vs 415 hp and 6MT. A 991 GT3 is right there, or faster, with a GT3 despite a still significant 100 hp different. But where it truly shines over the 458 is on the track.

I don't find it that hard to believe. A Speciale has a 1/4 mile trap of 125/126 mph. Not anything ground breaking as far as trap speed goes. I can see an M3 with 550 WHP being able to beat one.
