Do all 2018s come the "LCI" DRLs?

So I bought my car in May, and honestly never paid much attention to the DRLs, but today after taking them apart to see if I can switch the white LEDs for yellow, I noticed that there was only one chip. Then I looked at them and finally noticed they look different than the other 18s (they're the round ones)

Super clean car with 13k miles, no accidents. Is it possible that they were swapped out, or was it an option on the 2018 m3?

sounds like you got the base headlights (these look like the base headlights from the 2015). they are still LED lowbeam/highbeam though.

the 'icon' headlights are the ones you usually see on the 2018s. i think you need to spec the executive pack to get them.

you can upgrade to icons but its like 3-4k+ or something

Likely not spec'd with a executive package.

It was uncommon to be spec'd WITHOUT executive packages, but i've seen a few individuals without them.

All Lci (from 2017) have led headlights with hexagonal lights, if yours are pre Lci with round lights have been replaced. Look on the headlight sticker and see the production date. Swapped for old ones before sale to make a few extra bucks?

This is wrong info.

I do not believe. With the MY 2017 restyling, the front headlights were replaced with those that have hexagonal daytime running lights.

Anyone else here that has an F8x Lci (2017 onwards) with round daytime running light headlights?

You live in Romania so it may be different. In the US, 2018s (our year for lci) had base LED and adaptive ICON LED options.

Here we are not discussing base or icon led options (I agree on this) but the fact that the OP has, on a 2018 car, headlights with round daytime running lights which is not possible on an F80 Lci regardless of the options. Those headlights have been replaced.

Like said above. You're incorrect. OPs vehicle was spec'd without them. Look through the cars for sale section and you will find a few 18s without them and none of them have the executive package.

They also have round DRLs. So again, you're incorrect

I do because i do not have exec.

However the 2018 “round” headlight differs from the earlier models in that it is still LED as mentioned above.

If the car has everything else from the executive package then they might have been swapped out. Of none of those options are present then it’s a safe assumption this 2018 was not spec’d with the executive package.

My '18 F80 Base was LCI but had non-adaptive headlights with round Angel eyes.

All right, I take note. It can be seen that for the American market they have made a series of Lci with pre Lci headlights.

No, they are still LCI headlights. They're just not all adaptive icons. There's a difference.

Then it is the difference between American and European market. In Europe with the MY 17 (since summer 2016) the headlights with hexagonal lights, adaptive leds etc. appeared. Until 2016 the headlights have round lights but they are still LED and adaptive. I have an F83 april '16 and it has round led headlights with the options S552 Adaptive LED Headlight and S5AC High-Beam Assistant. There is no F80/82/83 in Europe from 2017 with round headlights regardless of the optional adaptive icons or not.

FYI, you can also buy the DRL boards in yellow for the non adaptive LED LCI from bay optics.

Thanks for all the info! It is a Comp package without executive. That's petty of BMW doing that, I had no idea.

While on the subject, does anyone sell the LED chip for these to change the DRLs to yellow?

Yup what matters if your car was orginally LED or Xenon headlights. I also had a 2015 but it had the LEDs and I was able to retrofit some adaptive LED headlights onto my 2015 with little issues! I ended up buying Bayoptiks as well.
