Which box did you order? 6SPD or DCT
For those of you who have placed orders, what did you get:
Manual Transmission or DCT 6MT for me!

I got the manual also. There is no way I would be able to handle that much power with anything else. Without the feedback you get from the gear box, the looming death would come sooner.

Traditional manual trans. Everyone tried to get me to go dct but just like I didn't with my 135 neither would I with this. I know the dct is faster and better for a track setting but it's not like ill be at a track every weekend. And during normal driving dct would b boring to me. I need 3 pedals besides the ones on my piano lol

I was intending to get the DCT on my M4 but I tried a DCT and was left feeling very isolated from driving, does change quick but a sports car needs involvement, so I ordered the manual.

The one that makes it fun to drive and would easily allow me drifting and full control of this monster. I am not sure but I think a clutch with a turbo should eliminate all lag if there is some. Cheaper, lighter and more control and more engaging and fun. It's kinda hard to see a reason why u should pick DCT unless u can't drive a stick and even in that case it's a good reason to learn it in this car LOOOL just my 2 cents for all those who like DCT no offense we are buying this car to have fun with it and to each his own

But I agree that it's less engaging and less fun to drive.

I have a 2014 E63 S AMG with 577hp and 590lb-ft torque...and I am bored out of my skull. I use the paddles with the Mercedes' MCT (not a dual clutch) and in spite of the overall package, I am bored out of my tree.
Personally, there are two aspects to to a vehicle...exterior and interior. While I do like walking up to a clean or freshly washed car and admiring it from certain angles, I have to say my personal experience comes from the inside. I spend my time inside the car and that is where the three most important things to me are handling, transmission, and exhaust sound. Generally, I switch out BMW's shifters for a Rogue short shifter, but I don't know if I need to with the F80. My most direct connection with the car - any car - is operating the clutch and shifter...it just keeps me engaged and connected and allows me to enjoy the car so much more. Can't comment on the exhaust or suspension as of yet. Now, if I was trying to run from the police or on a track all the time, I would probably lean towards the DCT. |

6 Speed baby. I'm still not "forced" to get an automatic on a BMW. This might be the last 6spd M3.

Even if I was tracking the car I would go manual. Flappy boxes have a tendency to overheat when pushed. Perhaps they have fixed all of that and that's great but it's still more engaging to drive a manual on track than a paddle box.
