if you're answering the overheating thing you really should ask. There's plenty of cases on this very forum from respected members.

I cannot even estimate the number of cars I have run full slicks or Hoosiers on throughout the years and throughout the years we have done extensive testing with data loggers (entry, apex, track out, lines through turns - double v. single apex, breaking points, speed at boards and etc. down to inches) to determine which tires are quicker, where they are quicker and which ones begin falling off sooner after less heat cycles and what we can do on the front end to get more heat cycles and improve grip before they start falling off . . .

All of the above this relates to grip and never once can I recall someone saying, "we gotta be careful with that tire it will make the engine overheat . . ." People did say there goes my wife and budget when confronted with the dilemma of running something like the Mich slicks that began dropping off rapidly after like 4 heat cycles, but were tops when they were on.

If your car is over heating because of a 1 second Hoosier Rs or 2-3 second slick advantage, buy a Porsche as this doesn't speak well for your car and maybe that car should not be on the track.

But the 911 GTS should not be pulling that much away from the M4 CS at launch. This is not consistent with the Autobild test results shown below. It almost seems like they launched the M4 CS with DSC fully activated.

I bet those values are hard to reproduce in real life. I launched my M3 a few times with Launch Control and reducing RPM as low as possible. I really couldn't believe this was like 4s to 100 as a 991.1 4s. My friend didn't believe it either. A lot of tyre squeezing sound but no traction.
Granted: the CS should be better than the standard one. But it is still missing a LOT of traction.

The videos are more like the real thing.

3.7s to 100 seems to be off to me except for a drag strip or something.

October 2017 Car and Driver instrumented test is showing 3.0 for the 991.2 GTS cabriolet. The coupe may be a sub 3 second car and didn't the S come in around 3.1.

https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews...ic-test-review

This could explain the serious beat down.

There is are significant differences in testing methodology between US and European publications. First, in the EU they test to 100km/h (62mph) and not 60mph, which is worth ~0.2 seconds. Second, US publications exclude a one-foot rollout from their measurement as per NHRA regulation, which is worth another ~0.2 seconds.

I doubt we will see an M4 CS as ~3.3 to 60mph though. Undoubtedly, those new 911 are bloody fast

I have not driven the GTS, but I have driven an S, turbo and a turbo S (wife brings them home from work) and the acceleration in all 3 was pretty dang violet and provides a sensation not even comparable to my F80 ZCP. I doubt the CS will FEEL that different acceleration wise from the ZCP and no way will it be as violent as the 991.2s in that 0-30 or 40 range.

That said, I am not an acceleration guy and anything in the low 4s or less is perfectly fine for me on public streets.

Although I think the M4 CS will lose this head to head comparo since the 911 GTS is seriously good, it should be close.

If anyone gets a link to the video, post it please. Should be available soon...

EDIT: We are getting close!

It's $60 to get to watch it a month before. Their videos are free to view on YouTube a month after they are published on their site. Crazy IMO.

Why is the 911 GTS a competitor to a M4 CS? Should it be C2S vs M4CS?

I don’t think they really are in the same price or performance bracket either.

What is the U.S. price of the CS? You can get a brand new 911 GTS base build for $135k, or slightly used for about that price.

See post #69 in this very thread

US pricing has not yet been released, but based on a high level international market analysis, I figure $92~101k USD.
