Very respectable time i bet with different tires or driver maybe a few ticks faster.

Yeah 7:50 on a good day at the ring in showroom stock condition on PSS is awesome. Granted, PSS are also a tire not available many years back.

Thanks for sharing Boss Certainly backs up what a lot of the other reviews have said: sound is different (though still nice in their view) whilst you're giving up a smidgen of throttle response for a whole load more torque, and a better chassis with better handling. Overall, I'm happy with that deal!!
Some will no doubt disagree with that characterisation, but that's how I see it anyway.

So the iDrive system tells HP and TP but not boost? That's a bummer, so are most people going to get an aftermarket gauge and mount it somewhere? That's what I had to do on my STi, always made me uncomfortable that the vacuum line has to be cut into.

Excellent review - and thanks for translating. If the original German is not as articulate as you were, I wouldn't worry at all about your English - you were far more articulate than most 'native speakers' are on this forum.

Yeah it was the first exhaust commentary that made me more excited to experience it whilst driving. It also made it appear like the design team spent more time focused not just on the tone/raspiness/volume but also on character & personality. Like: the turbos are going to create certain challenges, so it's put more energy behind giving it a distinct personality as you drive around.

Oh, and the next issue, out 13th of June, will have the Supertest of the M3 (or M4) complete with Nürburgring lap time etc...
Thanks for the kind words everyone. Glad I can contribute to all of you guys (and gals) |

The ~7.50min times SPORTAUTO quoted are times they are told them, what they also says in this article "reached by different test drivers on both cars M3 and M4" the article in the sister magazine AMS from the same autor quotes the same.
At first ... this time has nothing to do with an SPORTAUTO "Supertest" time by HvS ... the Supertest of the M4 is in the next month magazine (june 16th), so it seems clear, that at the time of print of the maiy issue even the author doesn´t know the Supertest times. The Supertest is harder than factory testdrives ... HvS has at every car he tests only two rounds at the NOS ... the first to get an feeling of the car and the second to reach the Supertest time ... this conditions are for all test cars the same. HvS is an very experienced and fast driver and holder of the NOS serial cars lap record, but because of the hard conditions it could the case that his time is slower than the time an good test driver could reach who make hundreds of Rounds on the NOS. Also the BMW DTM drivers have tested the M3/M4 on the NOS ... so nobody really knows if the rumored ~7.50min were one of their times!? |

7:50 is E46 CSL territory which is incredible... a comp pack car should even be lower.
A few questions; 1) Is this a legit feull Nordschleife time? Or is this BTG or some other part track time? 2) What tires and what driver? 3) Any video or real proof? I feel like this is a rehash of one thing someone somewhere said and there is nothing to back it up.

As for proof, hopefully there is a video but mostly for the enjoyment of seeing it as opposed to needing to double-check the stated time. |

That's the only part that irritates me. How much time could be added for PSS? No one will be driving around on the street on Cups. Also, what tires was the E46 CSL Running back in 2002?
