Quoted nearly $7k for crank hub replacement??

I asked a reputable BMW indy shop for a quote and it was about $5,200, which I thought was already on the high side. But it seems the quote didn't include the price of the aftermarket crank hub. I was planning to go with SSR, so that's an additional $1k if I am not mistaken.

I found a thread here from a few years back and it seems most of the posters had it done for around $4k or less, including parts and labor.
I don't know if this is outdated info..

Is it just me or is this price very high?
Anyone here from the Atlanta area who can recommend a good shop that may have a more reasonable price?

Edit - My math may have been a bit off getting to 7k. But it is still in the mid 6k range including parts, which still seems high to me.

It’s all relative, depending on a bunch of factors, but that pricing seems objectively crazy high. For example, Studio RSR charges $1750 for their same day service.

This is nuts.. I could ship the car across the country and get it done there and still probably save a few bucks...

I may use this to show some more local shops while shopping around.
Thanks for the info.

I paid less than 2k GBP for the Insane Crankhub supply, fit, install, which is far better than the MMR one.

Price is nuts. Tell them to stuff it.

Yep. And that price includes the actual crankhub too.

Everybody local to me wanted $5k+ aswell. Drove it a few hours out of state and had it done for $2200 out the door.
