M4 M Performance Exhaust teaser from M Initiation shoot

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Haven't posted here in a while but I was part of a cool experience this past weekend which I thought would be of interest to some of you peeps.

My E92 M3 was chosen to be part of a BMW film shoot for the M4, BMW called it M Initiation and it was done the day before Bimmerfest East over at Ripken Stadium near Baltimore MD.

Can't get into too much detail since the commercial will not be out for a few weeks, but they had Chris Forsberg putting the M4 through it's paces with some awesome stunt driving. The M4 Chris was driving had the M Performance Exhaust so I got to see it and listen to it all day long, they also had a bunch of
M4s, M3s and even the i8 for us to experience if we pleased, not drive them but hey how can I complain. Without any doubt in my mind the M PE will be part of my order when I get the M4, so I might as well start saving for it now as the difference in sound is dramatic, it put a smile in my face every time I heard it.

I am attaching a small clip from one of the takes of the shoot, it will give you an idea of the sound. I am going through a bunch of video and pictures I took, I will post more as I edit and clean them up some.

Enjoy....

*Looks like the editing is almost done, the folks at BMW published this on youtube yesterday....

Wow! M performance exhaust is so good that I don't think someone should consider other exhaust systems(including Akra).

Important question here is... How much is this thing going to cost?
Hopefully 3k for axleback version?

I saw that car at Bimmerfest under the tent. Still getting an Akra though.

I was lucky enough to hear both the mpe and akra on the road hours apart when I was at the nurburgring m festival. Personally (sound is a personal preference) the mpe appealed to me more. But both sounded awesome. I heard it was $7k for cat back, but I could be wrong.

May I ask why? Reason I ask is I have the Akra on order but in this video, the M Performance exhaust sounds better. Wondering if I should make the switch (which means paying for another exhaust). Although I do like the look of the Akra tips more.

And one more, for your enjoyment...

Yes, it sounds even better in person I promise you! Once the commercial comes out you guys will be able to really hear professionally recorded sound of the exhaust as one of the takes they did was just of the exhaust sound!

I am not sure if you can order this yet or not, from what I was told during the shoot this was the M PE's North American debut.

Cost, it won't be cheap for sure!! but I am coming from an E92 M3 with a Gintani exhaust that still makes me smile after 4 years of having the exhaust so I am going to be somewhat biased when it comes to exhaust sound, the sound of the new M PE is obviously not as deep and rumbling as what I have today but it is very exotic in its own right, to me BMW got it right!

I have heard them both in person at full load. They both sound good but MPE sounds amazing and strongly preferred it over the Akrapovic. Make the switch and listen to everyone is saying here. MPE is the winner!

Yeah, that'll do. I didn't detect any metallic raspy-ness, and it sounds deeper than I expected...is that accurate?

I wish this was available to order as an option from the factory when you spec the car- in effect you have to pay BMW for two exhausts plus fitting- the original exhaust and the Performance exhaust. Does sound good though!

Looks like no problem breaking the tires loose.

Better update my account at Tire Rack.
