Monterey Car Week 2014

Hey Guys,

I had the pleasure of going to Monterey Car Week again this year. What a fun time!

We took the 33 from Ventura up to the 46 and over. What an amazing drive. Didnt take any pics of the drive really other than the rolling shots I tried to take with a handheld, but just to hard while driving. The M3 did great on these roads. This was the first time though I could feel the electric steering. When the car was at its limits, or I should say, just past the limit, the steering wheel felt like the car was still in control. Didnt have that 100% connection to the road. That being said, still very easy to control at the limit, and just so strong feeling.

We went to Quail on Friday. It was pretty awesome lots of very special cars there. Then on Saturday we went to the Concourse Italiano in the morning, Carmel for lunch and Pebble Beach in the afternoon. Then on Sunday we took PCH back. This is a trip anyone on these forums should take it you haven't already! Unfortunately I decided to not take the camera on Sat and just take it all in so I dont have pics. Kinda wish I took more, but it is what it is.

I've driven the PCH, but not 33 and 46. That seems like a really long way to go. Is it worth it? Are these fun roads, nice views? Are they pretty empty? PCH is crowded...

The 33 was 100% empty, and it was one of the most amazing drives I have ever done.

Here's a few other pics taken from my smartphone (they look bad when scaled on a desktop) all in one jampacked day:

Legends of the Autobahn:

1series with a S65 V8 transplant (yes you read that right):

Jahre M5

It almost seemed like BMW was using i8s as courtesy vehicles because I saw several driving around town:

Porsche Werks Reunion:
Porsche Carrera GT

The Quail Motorsports Gathering

Got to take the Range Rover Sport offroading...and it was AWESOME. The steering feels better than BMWs with EPS lol...

Drove the Jag F-Type R and holy smokes that cat can purrr. Likely the best sounding engine available right now. The drive included a tunnel section and it wasn't the acceleration that had me astonished (though that was phenomenal as well), it was when I let off the gas and the exhaust snapped, crackled and popped with glorious overrun...I would buy this car just for the sound alone.

S63 AMG Coupe:

Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge

Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo

Hennessey Venom GT

One of six “Les Légendes de Bugatti”

Kepler Motion

Maserati MC12 Corsa. One of 12 in the world and quite possibly the only one that's street legal in the US:

Finally a Zonda in the US:

McLaren 650S

Pics by the lodge:

Lexus RC-F

Ferrari 458 Speciale

McLaren P1

McLaren 650S Sprint

Ferrari F12 Berlinetta

Porsche event on Friday night:

The new RSR. Patrick Long was in the house:

In the new 911 Turbo S cab:

Behind the wheel of the 918 Spyder. This was truly epic

I think Porsche has built two of my all-time favorite cars. The Carrera GT and the 918 Spyder.

Unfortunately didn't get to stay for Saturday which is usually my favorite because you can catch the concept cars as they roll on to the concept lawn. After a day in Monterey it's really hard to go back to normal life and seeing normal cars on the road...

Lolz yeah might as well call it Monterey Watch Week. Amazing how similar watches and cars are. Both have rotors, clutches, crowns, gears, etc.

I wasn't able to make it up there this year from LA but those pics were definitely a fantastic alternative. Thanks VERY much for posting those up!

And it's hard to beat the P1. That car is incredible both in terms of design and performance...
