Best Launch Procedure?
Hey guys,
I'm wondering what the best way to launch our M4s is. I've tried it with MDM but TC kicks in at around 6k rpm in 1st then during the 1-2 upshift. With DSC off, i have to feather the throttle at launch to keep the tires from spinning but same thing as with MDM, my 1-2 shift gives a lot of wheelspin and its sliding. Haven't tried with LC yet but there has to be a way to launch it well without LC. What have you guys found so far? I did a few V-Box runs and I keep getting 0-60 in 4.2. Not sure how BMW is claiming 3.9... On the plus side, my VBox read 1/4 mile in 11.82 @ 122.3mph with a 60-130 of 9.38. Car is stock and on 91 pump gas. |

Wow, you got an 11.82 ET without using launch control. That is pretty impressive.

Yes. Tried it several times with several combinations. Best times were 11.99 (opposite direction), 11.83 (normal direction), 11.82 (normal direction). The variation was in the launch. 11.99 was with MDM on intervening in 1st. 0-60 time was around 4.5 in that run

I'd take that off set if it gave us a lower 1/4 mile time

Hi guys,
For my part: DSC on : 4,7 MDM : 4,5 DSC off: 4,2 LC : 3,9 (just one time, other than that 4,00~4,1) Just one thing, I have found some differences with the tires temperatures, I did my best time when they were over 32 °C (89,6°F) alone in the car and with just a few gas. |

I've only tried LC two or maybe three times. Every time, it starts out great in first gear, then it seems the LC system gets excited and forgets to do its job because it goes into smokey burnout after the first 2 seconds or so.
I think the trick will be to start in LC, then feather once it gets into the non-LC gears. I've found at the track that feathering the throttle gets better acceleration out of a corner than non-Euro MDM.

Do you shift manually or do you let the car shift for itself?
If you shift manually, it dissengages Launch Control and you are on your own to manage traction. The same goes for the throttle, if you lift slightly during the run to disengage the kickdown button, LC dissengages. |

tried various modes .. D with mdm / LC traction off / drive off from idle
best 1/4m I could get was 12.8 / 13.0 - that's terrible .. car was spinning battling to get traction .. so how do I get early 12'S ?? |
