wahwahwahwah at 2000-3000 rpm

I know it sounds stupid but my wife and I both noticed a very distinctive, high pitched, "wahwahwahwah" between 2000 and 3000 RPM. Happens while moving or just reving the engine. Any ideas? Car is brand newish - only done about 500 miles.

Updated with vid driving about 50 at 2400 RPM.

can you make some sort of video of what is going on? not sure what your trying to describe with "wahwahwahwah"

or just take it to your dealer and they will be able to make sure everything is up to par

The diff makes that sound at slow speeds in 1st gear. Normal if that's what you hear.

OP... I think we need something with a little more detail to go on. As others have suggested, do a quick video and post it.

Well, guess I set my self up for all that, didn't I?

I'll see if I can get a decent video. All kidding aside, I'm sure you all have some idea of what I'm talking about. Seems to happen in any gear between 2k and 3k and I can also hear it in neutral just reving. I have my 1200 mile break in coming in a couple weeks so I'll have them take a look at it.

i know that its like to open between 2k-3k on most cars, don't M3 myself but carrera 991 does this after 2k it opens flap.

Not sure man. Tried taking a vid with my phone but couldn't hear it - the regular engine noise drowned it out on the recording. I'll have a tech sit in the car and listen to it when I bring it in for service then update the thread. It's not a big deal - just slightly annoying because once you hear it, you can't un-hear it.

Honestly, I wonder if it's not simply the active-sound doing its thing. The active sound adds engine noise that differs in pitch from the actual engine noise, resulting in some real-life dissonance. One British review likened it to a twin-engine airplane, on which one engine was running at a different speed than the other...

Are you sure it's a "wahwahwahwah?" Mine does something similar but it's more of a "wehwuhwehwuh" so it could be completely different.
