Moonstone F80 M3 vs Silverstone

OK.. so I am ordering a F80 M3 2016 LCI next month and was not sure of the color. I always was interested in moonstone but never seen it in person especially in the US well.. my advisor called me yesterday when I was at work and told me a Moonstone 3 series came in and to go to the warehouse and check out the color in person.. I got there and behold it was a M3 in moonstone! just wow.. I snapped a couple of pics I think this guys car is the first moonstone M3 in the us? or NYC area.. enjoy and let me know what you think of the color.

pictures dont give this color justice. You really have to see it in person to get a sense of the depth of the color. Lot going on and its all awesome IMO. Would def recommend that color

Really hard to tell from the pics - looks silver to me

The only thing I can tell for sure about exterior colors is:
1). You HAVE to find the car and inspect the color in sheet metal with your own eye balls. Don't trust what others are telling you. Make an effort to go and see the car for yourself (ideally in the model shape you are buying). If YOU like it - order it!
2). Silver is the safest, easiest to maintain, most boring color you can own.

The color might seem as plain silver on the pictures, but in real it is much deeper and it changes based on the light conditions. When cloudy it seems almost goldish, in a good way. Plus when you walk around it, the color hue really changes following the viewing angle along the car body lines. Not boring at all. In direct light the color is definitely silverish.
Hides dirt and swirl marks really well.

I wonder if this is the only Moonstone F80 ordered in the US for MY2015? From MY2016 onward the color will cost $5000 instead of $1900, so it's not likely to get any more common.

: This. You should just take that one if you really want moonstone. For $5k you are gonna have to pay for moonstone on a '16, your options are almost endless in getting another special color.

The color is great and changes so much. If that is your absolute favorite color it may be worth paying extra for.

This color is sweeeet!

Here's a pretty sweet shot of this color on an M6. You can really see some of the depth in the sun.

IMO Moonstone is like a "Mineral Silver" type of color. Looks cool, but I prefer SS

looks good but so hard to tell a difference with silverstone, even with the silverstone M4 right there

I definitely see a difference between Moonstone and Silverstone (not particularly because of these pictures).

This! No way I would pay 5k for a full individual when it was previously available on the same model for 1950. Years from now when u go to sell it, nobody will know the difference.

That said if you love the color, get it. I personally would do Silverstone for $550 instead.

Wish it was my car someone else ordered it and I was able to get a sneak peak before he picked it up. I'm on the list for 2016 next month still not sure on color and as far as I know this is the first and only moonstone m3 here in the U.S. Or at least in the nyc area

OP, as others have said if you love the color and that one is available, grab it up. Will only cost you more to do it on an order, plus you might be able to save even more considering it's a '15. It wouldn't surprise me, though, if this car is a sold car that just came in. Good luck!
