Now that the M4 GTS concept has been revealed, BMW may be turning its attention to developing the F80 M3 CRT, the first prototypes of which may have been spotted in these photos, courtesy of Heel & Toe blog. These two M3 test cars wear the same 666 M style wheels from the GTS concept, just without the acid orange accenting. The prototypes are also equipped with black exhaust tips.

The E90 M3 CRT was announced in June 2011 and was limited to only 67 units. Due to the very limited worldwide volume, the BMW M3 CRT was never homologated for sale in the USA. If history repeats itself, the F80 M3 CRT would possibly feature similar highlights as the E90 M3 CRT.

Or, as some members have theorized, what's seen here could be F80 M3 test cars featuring the upcoming Competition Package (ZCP), which is not expected to feature carbon ceramic brakes nor a high rear wing (as on the M4 GTS), but could get the 666 M wheels without orange accents and black exhaust tips (among other upgrades). The test cars also do not feature any special color accents as the E90 M3 CRT had.

Updated: this is an F80 ZCP.

But we are looking at the Competition Packet.

M4 - M4 (Competition Packet) - M4 GTS - M4 CSL.

Not 100% sure, but those look like 20" wheels front and rear... as opposed to the 19" front 20" rear that the GTS Concept sported.

No dry sump oil or water injection in this one.

No CRT accents either. I think you may be right on this one.

The M5 ZCP is $7300. My guess is just below $5k ( $4900 ) for the M3 and that it will have the wheels shown shared with the GTS as was the case with the E9X M3. Then the black tips, slightly lowered suspension with re-calibrated EDC plus a power bump of ~25hp. Maybe also some steering tuning.

I am not feeling those wheels at all. So will there be any HP bump at all or just cosmetic addons?

I would think a hp bump for sure, Pretty much zero cost for BMW and can allow them to double the price of the ZCP since no one can say no to factory hp Oh the agony to only have 425 hp when the one next to you at the Welt have 450..

I hate the BMW wheel designers. Those wheels have nothing in common with a BMW. They look very similar at base to the 335i M Performance wheels, so maybe these are official M performance wheels for the M3.

Third possible and not unlikely alternative:

First pics of an M3 limited edition "30 Years of M3" with the chassis and wheels of the next year coming Competiton package!
Might fit at this time is best, if the model should be presented at this year's IAA !?
Competition package might be a little early, when it comes until next year.

The wheels are actually a contribution to using weight reduction wherever possible. The thinner spokes utilise less metal than the conventional M3/M4 rims.
But we are looking at the Competition Packet.

M4 - M4 (Competition Packet) - M4 GTS - M4 CSL.
