bootmod3 device - in-car install demo
Hey guys,
For those of you that haven't had a chance to see our recent Instagram and Facebook posts here's a link to a quick video showing the bootmod3 agent device installed in the car for always-on connectivity and no laptop ever required in the car with you. Takes about a minute to install and run the OBD Enet cable behind the plastic trim and into the glove box. P.S. Wishing there was a way to embed posts here but a link will have to do for now unfortunately it seems. |

Nice, so you don't need to have it hooked up 24/7 because some owners would have a AWRON gauge that they like, once this it installed in the OBD the gauge would go into maintenance mood.
Excellent work on concealing the wires!

Thank you and you got it. Its entirely optional to keep the device connected but in many cases running the live dash on an iOS or Android device will provide hundreds more data channels along with logging over just an Awron gauge along with other features we have in mind coming down the road.

Not being critical, but for us with 13" shoe size +, the OBD connector showing in the video is huge ... and whats tucked inside?
I am happy to license you my tiny homemade OBD ENET Wifi Gizmo |

If any issues with clearance for people (which we honestly have never encountered) you could always grab this $6 extension cable to make it as slim as you'd like and attached the ENET cable to the other end of it: https://www.amazon.com/full-line-Ext...9JCYYJKTXT4MWX |

Also another questions with larger turbos since their is a little more turbo lag will the Off the Shelf Tunes account for the later boost and adjust the DCT down shift points for example to keep the transmission in a higher rev range so boost comes on cleaner. I'm finding that the car shifts up assuming the faster spool from stock turbos and has turbo lag because the larger turbos don't spool as quickly or at the lower rpm ranges. Thx |

Also, do you guys foresee the same issues regarding the Awron gauge on the CANBUS at the same as your device that it has with other devices? I had an Awron gauge on my car when I first got it but had to get rid of it because it doesn't play well with the jb4

Funny you bring back this thread, we had another vid posted just this morning of the bootmod3 app with the live dash running on an older Android based Acer tablet, OBD agent device sitting in the armrest like shown in the vid in the OP and both the Acer tablet and OBD agent device tethered for internet to a hotspot on my Samsung S6 Edge phone sitting in my pocket |
