Akrapovic exhaust

I picked up my 2017 m4 a month ago and was underwhelmed by the sound. Just had an Akrapovic titanium slip on exhaust put on. Picked it up and couldn't really tell the difference in sound. Very underwhelming. Maybe the valves aren't opened?

Any feedback?

I have owned several other cars and notice huge differences with aftermarket kits.

You might need to run an aftermarket catless downpipe to get a "better" sound. Better is in quotes because it's subjective of course.

But usually, the best bang for your buck on terms of performance and sound is a catless downpipe in tandem with a tune.

I was told it wouldn't pass inspection here in Texas.

Yes, that won't pass. You could add a mid pipe which would only eliminate your secondary cats. That shouldn't be a problem for inspection.

I have the akro slip with akro dp's. Sounds great, but will not pass inspections. Definitely should get the free flowing mid pipes to enhance the sound if dp not an option. Just don't do dp and midpipe... too raspy with drone.

I would suggest the Akrapovic Mid Pipe with no secondary cats, but that is unavailable now in the States.

The only option now is downpipes

I am reading over and over about people starting the car up and setting off alarms and driving by houses and having people call the cops. My car sounds like my old stock 335. Like engine noise not exhaust note.

I haven't had my 1200 mile service yet though.

Akrapovic Slip On systems are very tame compared to the EVO setups. Catless downpipes will really wake up the exhaust note, while gaining a few ponies at the same time.

I have the full system on my car. It definitely sets off car alarms.... Here's a video comparison of MPE (SSII) and Akrapovic (Tanzanite Blue)

I think most exhaust systems for our cars in a closed off environment will set off car alarms lol I know I have. But Debating making it super loud with some Catless DP's :P But i'm still debating on that.

I have the full Akra with DPs on my car as well and its loud no doubt. I would suggest getting a valve controller unit so you can open and close the valves, I have the mach schnell (spelling?) one works like a charm.

I have the full Akra setup with catless dp's and midpipe and have no drone whatsoever. If you have drone you might want to check your exhaust was installed correctly.

You have any video clips of your system? I know the video does not really sound exactly right but curious. Thx

seems like slip on exhausts don't change loudness much, just look good. Need to either get midpipe or downpipes.

I called the Akrapovic folks and they can't sell the downpipe or evolution midpipe here in the states. Said it won't pass emissions.

Is this true? Does anyone have the full system installed? Where did you order it from? Will it pass inspection?

Due to EPA regulations and standards, we are no longer importing into the United States exhaust pieces which do not meet EPA requirements. This would include pieces like downpipes which alter vehicles emissions.

Slip on systems and other systems which have been approved are still available.
