BMW Individual - Alcantara Headliner

Any possibility of adding Anthracite Alcantara headliner to my M3 order through the BMW Individual program?

Probably through Individual but BMW has the last say. It seems most SA's don't know enough about the Individual program to find out for you. Good luck.

Though I thought I read here that someone said it was standard. But on the spec sheet it just says anthracite headliner. No alcantara.

Cheers.

I really wish the individual program consisted of a single fee and they would then let you choose everything. Paying 3K or 5K just for paint and then more for every other thing you want to customize is just so painful.

I would get the Alcantara headliner with Santorini Blue ext and same color contrast stitching in a heartbeat!

That probably costs like 10k with how they charge currently.

No, you're confusing the two terms, I think. The standard headliner is anthracite (color) cloth. It is not made from Alcantara (suede-like fabric).

http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/att...3&d=1394075201

Option code 775.

M5 has standard Anthracite Alcantara headliner:

http://f10.m5post.com/forums/attachm...1&d=1369066588

Option code 776 (or, alternatively, XD5 for color-matched).

Unless an M3/M4 is crash-tested and US certified with an Alcantara headliner then any request via Individual will be denied.

Only Antracite cloth has been certified -and that's the reason that it is the only headliner offered so far.

We have discussed this issue of materials and crash certifications before. It is not an absurd discussion, that's the way interior materials are approved or not.

Thanks for the info all and good point Technic on the crash certification. I momentarily considered that I could do this aftermarket but then realized airbags are beneath the pillars and as such I'd rather leave it to the factory if possible.

I've reached out to my SA with the request and will keep everyone posted on what I hear back.

I thought I read somewhere that it would if you opt for the CF roof? I might be incorrect with this but for some reason I thought I remembered reading that?

I tried on my Frozen Grey E92 and was denied. But I was allowed the Paint and Interior stitching.

If you could find that again... let us know. I'm curious.

Too bad Individual will be only available from July onwards (too late for my car)... here some details from bmw.com website:
BMW Individual.
Uniqueness of character is revealed in every detail – the essence of true exclusivity. Give full expression to your pursuit of perfection.
The unmistakable presence of a legend: BMW Individual offers an extended range of exclusive paint finishes for the BMW M3 Sedan. One of eight compellingly expressive colours is Azurite Black metallic. When the light falls on this BMW Individual paint finish – inspired by azurite crystals – a unique spectrum of blue is revealed within its deep-black surface. (Expected to be available from July 2014. Matt paint available from 2015.)

Perfection is part of the myth: the BMW Individual fine-grain Amaro Brown Merino leather impresses with its velvet-soft and noticeably fine structure, a finish that can only be achieved through meticulous selection of raw material. Along with this colour, there is a fascinating spectrum available – from Opal White, through to Nutmeg and Cohiba Brown – so you can always find a colour to suit. (Expected to be available from July 2014.)

Exuding timeless elegance: the BMW Individual interior trim Plane Auburn featuring hand-picked fine wood rounds off the sophisticated interior with its subtle grain. An alternative to both of the characterful fine-wood finishes is the interior trim Piano finish Black, with a high-gloss surface equalled only by leading piano manufacturers.

Easy on the eye: the leather-covered instrument panel from BMW Individual takes the interior into a new dimension when it comes to quality.

Colourful accents you can see and feel. The contrasting stitching from BMW Individual is the highest expression of elegance, impressively accentuating the full fine-grain Merino leather in Black. There are four colours to choose from: Sakhir Orange, Silverstone, Yellow or Blue. (Expected to be available from July 2014.)

Unfortunately my dealer hasn't been able to source any information on this yet. They did mention that they expect to have more information in July, which corresponds with the anticipated July availability of the BMW Individual interior leather and stitching options.

I am doing european delivery in October, so I can be patient for now. Thanks all for the posts thus far! I'll certainly provide an update when I find out more.

I never actually pay attention to my headliner anyway. Thank goodness.

No problem! I was hoping they were going to be extremely generous to those of us who elected the carbon fiber roof and give us the Alcantara headliner free.
