Lots of you may already know us from our previous builds over the years which been from mild, street driven vehicles to competitive builds competing in events such as Global Time Attack, European Car GP, & Shift S3ctor/No Fly Zone. Our builds have been featured in numerous magazines such as European Car, Bimmer & Eurotuner. With a strong track and street concept background, this build will not disappoint. This buildup will expand as we have a select group of engineers working to make this one badass M3. Modifications will be ranging from all fields: Performance, Suspension, Exhaust, Electronics, Braking and Aesthetic with many parts originating from our own designs. Other vendors that are interested in participating in the buildup process are welcomed to contact me directly. Vehicle will also serve as a platform for development in which new parts to be released from eas as well as other vendors, subscribing to this thread will allow you to be a part of the process. Feedback, recommendations or questions are welcomed in this thread. Enough rambling - time to begin.

Journal Entry 001: Delivery
Journal Entry 001: Delivery The beginning of the journey begins with ordering and a phone call to our friends at Steve Thomas BMW. Forum member Golferr was able to aid in getting the process started, along with their lead salesperson David Aviles. Then, the waiting game starts.....until a notification popped up on the BMW website: Metris leader has docked and our M4 has made it's long journey stateside. A few days at VPC and she was ready to be picked up. Thus began what seemed to be the longest road trip ever to Camarillo: Paperwork was completed, handshake was made and we were presented with our new M4 once walking through the doors: The AY color looks simply beautiful in person, the pictures really do the color an injustice. There is a slight pearlescent hue in direct sunlight that really makes the color pop. Thus began what seemed to be a much shorter drive back to the shop. Beautiful!
Will keep checking this for update. It's great that you have dct. This way, when you test exhaust, you will be able to tell dct users if it drones bad or not. |

Absolutely. We have recording equipment (and mics) so we should be able to show a pretty good representation on what is seen first hand.

Journal Entry 002: 18" Style 513M Wheel Weights/info
Journal Entry 002: 18" Style 513M Wheel Weights/info First thing on the agenda is to to gather info. Since we'll be upgrading the wheels later down the road, there was no reason to opt for the 19" 437Ms. Removed the 18" wheels for data recording: Wheels: 18x9.0 Front (ET29) 18x10.0 Rear (ET40), Style 513M Tires: 18": Michelin Super Sport: 255/40-18, 275/40-18 Front: 44.00lb w/ tire Rear: 48.25lb w/ tire According to TireRack data, tires weigh in at 25lbs for 255s and 27lbs on 275s. Front: Style 513M, (no tire): 19.0lbs Rear: Style 513M, (no tire): 21.25lbs 19" 437M data included as reference for comparison: Quote:
It's a tough road ahead for wheel manufacturers in order to keep within the ballpark of stock weights.

The 18"s look great on the M4 AY.
18" front wheels are 1.9 lbs lighter, rears 1.6 lbs., for a total of 7.0 lbs less unsprung weight. Bordering on significant enough difference to have effects on performance. We have exact weights on rims from BMW: 18" 513M front = 8.92kg (19.6lbs) rear = 9.44kg (20.8lbs) 19" 437M front = 10.4kg (22.9lbs) rear = 10.6kg (23.4lbs) weights for tires from Tirerack are unreliable. PSI measured the 437M 19" at 22.2 and 24.2

Over 22 lbs less unsprung weight in total. $ = 2.5k per wheel...

Journal Entry 003: Cloth/Leather combination Carbonstructure Anthracite/Black
Journal Entry 003: Cloth/Leather combination Carbonstructure Anthracite/Black Bit of a break from full leather, its hard to stop staring at the seats. The Cloth/Leather Carbonstructure 2x2 weave just carries over so well for the interior. Closeup Grips and breathes very well, should do well with track and everyday use.

+1 -- wish I had stuck with initial decision to go with Speed Cloth.
