727 HP 2016 Mustang...

https://www.yahoo.com/news/talked-oh...164500085.html

Some dealership is selling them for $39,995 all in. I'll still take an M3 but just curious to read what you guys think about it.

Is a factory warranty included? I'd venture to say no. Still though, pretty impressive as this dealership isn't price gouging like so many other Ford dealers when it comes to specialty models.

Personally, I'd wait for the 700+ HP GT500 because the chassis, suspension, etc will be able to deal with all that power and torque and not be overwhelmed by it.

If it is Ford Racing Parts then I think the warranty is intact. Or it is like the Dinan thing where FRP takes over the warranty.

From what I've read, buying the car with this Roush kit installed would be similar to any of us with a JB4 installed, i.e. standard aftermarket caused warranty invalidation (dealer says your supercharger kit caused your valve cover gasket to leak, up to you to prove that it didn't....). Oddly enough the Ohio dealer tells buyers flat out that the Ford warranty is voided, but they offer a "parts only" warranty through that specific dealer.

So this is nothing like a Dinan warranty. Parts only, no labor, and only from that dealer.

Also that $40k price is based off a stripper Mustang GT with ZERO options + $7,500 Roush supercharger kit.

Luckily all Ford options can be had for ~$5k, whereas ONE option on a BMW is practically $5k.

I applaud the dealer for doing this, but like someone else said, I will wait for the GT500 with factory warranty.

Thanks for the clarification. I just quickly looked at the link and wasn't sure if the supercharger was a FRP part.

It is a lot of bang for the buck. Add some coilovers and it would be an interesting car. But, I guess you could also get the new Camaro SS with the magnetic suspension for around the same price. It would have a factory warranty as well if one was going this route.

Yeah factory warranty and 40k more price tag for it.

We are talking about a mid 30k car here. I think its a great deal. A GT PP is very similar to an E92 M in performance stock so I'm sure this is real fun to drive.

I wish I knew more about the MT problems tho...

True, but a "stripper" M3 is still very nicely equipped (nav & satellite, LSD, good cloth & leather seats standard). Also, you're forgetting the "GT Premium" trim level, which is another $4000, which is essentially an option package by a different name.

It's not hard to option up a Mustang GT with $11k in options.

Which is still 20k less than a stripper M3... You can get similar deals off MSRP on both. I've researched

Isnt standard leather on an M3 $950 without exec? Isn't Carbonstructure the only free option?

Yes, no question about the value. I was just replying to the 04Cobra's assertion that there was a max of $5k in options for the GT. Ford plays the option game with trim levels like everyone else.

It is, but the carbonostructure seat side bolsters are leather. Also forgot to add they made HK audio & Comfort access standard in 2016.

Really we're comparing apples to oranges here though as they're intended for entirely different markets.

In terms of raw HP in a 2-door RWD layout, the current pony cars are absolutely the best bang for the buck. And $40k for 727 HP is nuts, but regardless of trim level I wouldn't want one as a DD. Cheap track toy? Sure, but I'll keep my M3 for my daily commute.

My GT premium started at 37k and ended at 41k optioned. The "GT premium" is a trim level not really an option. So he's kinda right

What's the difference between "trim level" and "option"? They're functionally the same thing. Extra $$$ for a package of features.

Its like a 3 series.. the difference to Ford between a GT premium and a GT is like a 328 vs a 330... At least that's how I(and I think Ford) look at it. They have different starting MSRP.

They call it a totally different model on their site..

-Mustang V6
-EcoBoost
-EcoBoost Premium
-GT
-GT Premium
-Shelby

A 328i vs 335i is similar to the difference between the EcoBoost & GT. The difference between a GT and a GT Premium is the same thing as the difference between an M4 and an M4 with Executive Package.

Wait, you mean you can take factory cars and sink money into them - voiding their warranty and original reliability in the process - and make them faster? COOL.

Seriously, why is this a big deal? Because of the number 727? We don't even know if it can put that power down.

Kudos to the dealership for developing this, but has been done many a time before and for similar dollars.
