JB4 standalone sound alteration and question about exhaust burbles
i am considering doing JB4 to my F80 M3 6MT. Will this mod change the sound of a stock set up?
i am trying to get exhaust "burbles" without spending thousands on an aftermarket exhuast. what is the best way to do this? just coding? any additional advice? i have never tuned any car ive owned so forgive me for being a newb. Appreciate the help!

The only thing that will give you burbles would be an ECU flash tune. From why I can recall there is no plug and play that gives you burbles. I'm sure some company is trying to do it though.

The "burble" popping/crackling/backfires produced by aftermarket exhaust is a function of the change in exhaust gas velocity between shifts and when lifting off throttle. These are more random noises and shorter duration. The "burble" popping/crackling produced by aftermarket software tuning is a function of throttle overrun, which is directly related to specific calibrations based around fueling/timing/etc... Not all "throttle overrun" is created equal, and the calibration strategy used by different tuners creates different run duration, sound quality, and acoustic control. |
