As far as I know, it is indeed all speculation thus far.

When you look at how Chevy's 1LE package makes MASSIVE improvements to the SS's laptimes, with no hp or torque increase whatsoever - I would love it if BMW did a 1LE counterpart for the M3/M4 - I would pay for it in a second if it were no more than an $5-7k package.
After tracking my own M3 multiple times - as great and incredibly fun of a chassis as the F80 is stock right out of the box - I would take suspension/chassis upgrades over hp/torque upgrades in a second. I think the stock M3/M4 with 425hp/406 lb/ft already has plenty of power - give me better cornering first, then I'd take hp/torque second... |

If the rumor that start of production for the M3/M4 Club Sport will by July 2017 is true, then the details should hopefully be released within the next few months (including pricing). I just hope the price is much closer to the ZCP than the GTS. Finger crossed...

Rumors of an S55 in the M2-CS and that GTS hood on the M4-CS has me thinking a water injected S55 could be lurking under there . My guess for price is smack in the middle of a base M4 and the GTS (~$100kUSD+options)

Yeah - $100k for the water-injected S55 - very tempting, but I think my wife would divorce me... Looks like non-water injected S55 for this guy if the CS is $100k

IMO it is not impossible to believe that the CS will "supersede" the CP altogether. With the rumors that the base M4 will be getting the current CP 450hp tune and that the M2 CS will be getting an S55 with ~400hp, an M4 CS with 460~500hp is not an impossibility.

I do think that there is more to come for the water injected S55, just not convinced yet that it will be a part of the new CS. I certainly hope that it is though. As for the M4 CS superseding the M4 ZCP, that is a bit more believable. It would sort of leave the lineup in a strange place since the M3 and M4 convertible would obviously continue without the CS additions. Wouldn't necessarily be a problem, though, just kind of an interesting divergence. And about increasing the power in the base model - unless you give not only the M4 CS water injection (which, as I say, looks unlikely right now to me), but also the M3 ZCP and M4 convertible ZCP too, you're now looking at a less compelling content for that package on those models (no more power increase). So you have to lower the price. Is that really going to increase profit? Not obvious to me that it will. Oh, but you might say that they will make up for it with a healthy increase to the base price instead. Fat chance, I say. |
