I never knew I needed a cold air intake for my COVID mask hehe, just drop in a set of K&N high flow COVID filters and we're in business

Defies belief that a brand still associated with big bodied luxury and the elderly is willing to work upstream to form a connection with driving enthusiasts while the brand with thousands of loyal, lifelong enthusiasts in waiting distances itself. What does GM see that BMW M does not? Is M sure that turning its most iconic car into a teenybopper attraction is a sound business move?

I can see what they were trying to do with that commercial but will it be enough to sell them? I mean did CTS-Vs sell all that well? I like the premise but the blackwing just doesn't appeal to me all that much. Styling just isn't there.

They are keeping sales limited to not suffer any losses or have them sitting on dealer lots. They are likely to do a similar situation to the CT6-V with a few rounds of reservations/pre-orders or an order-only buy.

I quit watching when he starting explaining the different drive modes. Video feels more like reading an owners manual than offering technical information on a car

When the DCT came out it was literally the best of both worlds and a huge improvement over SMGII/III. But this ZF8 auto slushbox stuff is just not motorsports in any way. Notice the lack of enthusiasm from these "technical" guys. I mean, at least with Biermann, you can hear his enthusiasm and pride come through. These guys come off really forced and uncomfortable. No pride at all in these cars. What a way to end the era of ICE... |

CanAutM3 I see your posts over there on the FP thread and thanks for being the voice for this thread since most of us can't chime in with our laughter and mockery lol
The best comment was from one poster who was like, "I wish there was someone who could speak to these technical aspects better, like that guy at Porsche..." And then your response lol Geezus BMW...what have you done?!?!?! Last edited by MFNATIK; 02-02-2021 at 02:59 PM.. |

This was the "technical" video I had been waiting for... I wanted BMW M to convince me that they had done something specific to address the sluggish downshifts of the ZF8 transmission in manual mode or on a track, and the poorly spaced gear ratios that are great for fuel economy but awful if you're trying to manually keep the car in the power band. Nothing in this video to even make me think they acknowledge the problem. (*every* car marketing video today uses the phrase "optimized on the Nordschieffe" so it's become basically meaningless) |

Last ICE-only V-sport Cadillacs so they went all in on these two.

The general lack of motorsports passion at the division could also have been influenced by the quality of an incoming crew. In the recent years, competent engineers likely applied for a job at Mercedes-AMG or Porsche who are at the top of their game in both racing and the high performance car production. BMW does not seem to be a frontrunner in R&D at this stage.

Well, at least we still get six cylinders unlike the boys over in Stuttgart that are treating us with four-cylinder C63s that look like melted butter.

C-class not having more than two liters of displacement is much worse than our Munich lads sniffing cocaine in their design studios. The selling point of premium small and mid-size cars were the tech, quality and big engines. By big I mean 4+ cyls. Even Volkswagen was somewhere in the middle back in the 00s with their Golfs and Passats (VR6 AND W8!). Cadillac is doing a hail Mary and it really shows. The Germans are taking a different approach. P. S.: I've been keeping an eye on the German F80 6MT market - since taking delivery of ours in 2018, there have been no more than two CPO 6MT cars for sale. There rest are just rebuilt US cars that you must stay away from... One 6MT ZCP car is now available, €15k more than mine with the same miles. Lucked out, really. They're gonna sell a handful of 6MT G8x in Europe.

With Cayenne coupes and four-pot "lease from" Macan specials, they're really relying on the badge and clout as well. Shit, even Ferrari, the merch brand, is doing an SUV. The heck is going on?
